the best dbz game ive ever played!!!
i got this game for easter and its the best dbz game i ever played. there are 5 game features- 1p vs. comp, 1p vs. 2p, tournament, build up and build up battle. There are 22 fighters (hence the title: Ultimate Battle 22). Some include goku, vegeta, majin buu, super buu, trunks, gotenks, supreme kai, and more. there are 5 unlockable characters- gogeta(called vegeto in this game for some reason), kid goku, master roshi, ss3 goku, and mr. satan. the graphics are ok- the characters are 2d cel-animated (meaning they are the original artist's drawings) and the backgrounds are 3d environments from the show, like cells arena, old namek, kami's lookout, and the world tournament arena. The fighting backgrounds are the only bad thing about the graphics (they look very stretched out). the sound is great. Infogrames kept the original japanese music AND character voices. they even kept the world tournament announcer's japanese voice when you play in tournament mode! many people say not to get this game, but i say- GET THIS GAME!!! Kamehame-HAAA!!!

Got the original Japaneese version of this game a LONG time ago, it's not that bad of a game, as the name states it's 22 DBZ characters including everyone from Goku to Super Majin Buu (No Kid Buu). Basically 2-5 characters from each of the DBZ series.

Game is a simple 2D fighter with a basic 3D background. Unless they totally redid this game (and given the price of $, they probably just did a quick translation) it's nothing to write home about. Each character does basic kicks and punches with some special moves here and there and all characters have a variety of projectile attacks.

Characters can "levitate" or fly, or fight on the ground and you can toss projectiles if your opponent is either above or below you. Pretty simple.

For the price this game isn't too bad. Chances are if the kiddies are knee deep in Dragonball stuff they will add this to their collection, so that's ok, but there are better games out there.

Fighting feels pretty basic and it doesn't take long to figure out how to block just about anything the bad guy throws at you. There's a "Build-up" mode where you take a fighter and as you win fights you "level up" and get stronger with a longer health bar. You can take your fighter to your friends and duke it out with their fighters. Kind of Tomagotchi'esk...

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

Also depending on how much this game has "changed" there should be a code to unlock 5 extra characters. (Young Goku from Dragonball, Mr. Satan (aka-Hercule), and 3 others I can't remember as I write this)

DragonballZ Ultimate Battle 22
Well, this game is okay, has weak spots and good parts. I own it. Now, the graphics are garbage. The characters don't look good. DragonballGT Final Bout is a better buy if you can find it. Ultimate battle 22 has a whopping 27 characters

These are all the characters available. 27 is a lot!! The game has 5 modes. VS. Computer, 2 Player mode, Tournament, Build Up, Build Up Battle. Those are all 5 modes. But the game lacks of story mode. The energy balls are really, well not so impressive. They don't got any reality. Just little yallow balls. The balls don't even follow you after they are thrown(homing energy balls). The ultimate attack for each character is nothing big. They are not much different then the regular attacks. If you got a PS2, Budokai 2 is a much better bet!! Now, the moves are not so easy to do. For example, Goku's best attack is Ultra Hamaekamaeha, and it is not anything special, but it is so hard to launch!! Man, DragonballGT: Final Bout is easier to launch characters final moves. Final Bout is a much better game, and it is 3-D, while DragonballZ Ultimate Battle 22 is 2-D. Now, if you have that $150.00 to buy DragonballGT: Final Bout, go ahead!! It is extremely expensive, but DragonballZ Ultimate Battle 22 is like rubbish compared to DBGT Final Bout! Now, if you already have DragonballGT Final Bout, then don't buy DragonballZ Ultimate Battle 22. But if you don't got $ to buy Final Bout, then buy this game. Overall, it's okay! If you are a DragonballZ fan without a PlayStation2, and only have a PlayStation1, then this game is a good bet!! However, if you are a DragonballZ fan with a PlayStation2, then DragonballZ Budokai or DragonballZ Budokai2 are much better!!! Well, I hope this is useful!! (Warning: When I said the names of all the Saiyans, I did not type they are Super Saiyans except for Super Saiyan 3 Goku. All of the Saiyans are Super Saiyans and not in their 'black hair mode'! You don't do Super Saiyan in the battles. You are already a Super Saiyan when you begin the fight when you pick any of these characters:

All of these characters are Super Saiyans from the beginning of the fight!! When you buy the C-D and see Vegeta in the back of the box powering up with a yellow flame around him, that is just an attack or barrier to protect him from any energy ball attacks).
