Customer Reviews of Dr. Seuss - Green Eggs and Ham and Other Favorites (Grinch Night)
Dr. Seuss is Always the Best This is probably my favorite Dr. Seuss movie after The Lorax. I love this movie!
It's about a little boy who had to go to the outhouse when Grinch night was coming, and, while he was walking outside, the high winds forced him to meet the Grinch who had this huge cart and his poor little dog, Max, who was pulling the cart, with him.
The little boy survives the terrors of the Grinch's cart, and finally the Grinch lets Max go live with the boy (I think that that may be why I love this movie so much). Then they both go home, and the Grinch goes back to his mountain considerably nicer. Also, the little furry thing that the Grinch had been chasing got away, too.
I recommend this to anyone, and I especially recommend it to be watched on Halloween night.
Dr. Seuss at his not-quite-so-best
This is a pretty good show, but it's not one of Dr. Seuss' very best. I'm not sure how much Dr. Seuss had to do with it, but it seems pretty Dr. Suess-ish. I like the: "You put your glasses back on and face the facts!" Of the Freleng-DePatie Dr. Seuss TV specials, this is the best I'VE seen. But it isn't NEARLY so good as "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" (directed by Chuck Jones, Freleng's buddy at Warner Bros.) or "Horton Hears a Who" (Directed by Chuck Jones also, it isn't The Grinch, but it's a great show, none the less), or "Horton Hatches the Egg" (A Looney Tunes cartoon directed by the master director: Bob Clampett, who is about as good as Freleng and Jones). It certainly is better than the trash their making NOW with Dr. Suess' name on it, like: THE GRINCH with Jim Carrey and THE CAT IN THE HAT with Mike Myers (oy!). Grinch Night isn't bad, but it isn't the best use of Dr. Seuss characters.
It most likely would've been better if Friz Freleng (the producer of this show) directed it, or Chuck Jones, or Bob Clampett, or perhaps let Dr. SEUSS direct it. Ah, THERE'S an idea nobody's thought of!
Classic Dr. Seuss at his best.
This DVD contains four digitally remastered (great image quality) classic Dr. Seuss stories:
* Green Eggs and Ham: about Sam-I-Am and his never ending quest to make people sample the dish he loves best.
* The Sneetches: about a narrow-minded and prejudiced group of creatures who don't accept others who don't look exactly like them.
* The Zax: about two hardheaded and proud beings who waste a whole lifetime for not yielding the right of way.
* Grinch Night: about a courageous kid who faces the Grinch and saves his whole town from his malicious Halloween tricks and terrors. (A must see on Halloween night).
It also contains two wonderful sing-along songs: He Will Eat Them and Grinches Inches Closer.
Not only does this collection of cartoons contains the marvelous songs and poetry of Dr. Seuss, it is also a great way to teach kids about human values like open-mindedness, tolerance and acceptance, humility, courage and selflessness. They are filled with original art and are also very entertaining.
Buy this DVD for your kids and enjoy it with them. I would also recommend buying Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
