Customer Reviews of Don't Be Happy Just Worry
The origins Here's where The Wildhearts started. This is the combination of their original release "Mondo Akimbo Ago-go" and the follow up "Don't Be Happy...Just Worry" with the former tracks undergoing a remix in order to sort out the poor quality they initially suffered. While not ESSENTIAL for a Wildhearts fan there are some incredably enjoyable songs here which show how it all started. The excellent "Turning Amercian" thumps things off in fine style. This song is not anti-american in any way, it is about someone loosing their roots. Next the superb "Crying Over Nothing" riffs it's way into your head and it's follow up "Nothing Ever Changes But The Shoes" is a bona fide classic. "Liberty Cap" suffers a little in excellent company, but is a decent song.
The "Don't Be Happy..." tracks have an all together more melodic feel, with b-movie loving "Splattermania" riding alongside the sing alongs "Something Weird" and "Weekend". The final song doesn't work to good and is alot better acoustic.
This shows the foundation of what was to become the trademark Wildhearts sound. Start with "Earth Vs The Wildhearts" to get hooked, then you will clutch this earlier effort to your chest with happy contentment knowing that yes...rock music can be the best thing on the planet when done right.
