Customer Reviews of Domenico Scarlatti: Complete Sonatas, Vol. 1 - The Spanish Influence - Emilia Fadini
The Spanish Influence Everyone refers to Scarlatti and the Spanish influence, but here Fadini writes a mostly-coherent description of the flamenco features in her program notes and then goes on to crank out some guitar-modeled performances that support her points well. Tempo variations make K 99 come alive, and K 216 and 209 (the latter identified by Kirkpatrick as a jota) also work. <

>I've been playing from Fadini's nearly complete edition of Scarlatti sonatas for years, but never knew how good her own playing was. Of course, she uses her numbers first, but she does provide K numbers. The recorded sound is fine and she plays on a couple of harpsichords (the more interesting being a copy of a Portuguese instrument from 1785).
