Customer Reviews of Dips, Lifts, and Solos to Spice up Your Salsa
A video I will enjoy watching again, and again, and again... I totally enjoyed this video. Lisa's dancing was wonderful - a level to aspire to. Dave's explanations were clear and well thought out. I especially liked the way he explained how to lead in a way that avoids injury to both the leader AND the person he is leading - I've danced with a few people I'd like to give this video to! I also like his use of slow motion on the most complex lift - very helpful. I will definitely look for more of their vidoes.
Salsa at its best!
I bought the video after watching Lisa and Dave dance. I was very impressed with their moves and style. I've had the video for over 2 years and I still consistently watch it. Dave is great at explaining all the moves, including what mistakes to avoid, very important for dips. He makes it easy to follow. I'm not a professional dancer, I've been taking lessons and the video is a great tool. I personally love the solos. If you want to look good at a club this is the video to buy!
Don't believe the hype
After reading all the positive reviews for this video here on Amazon, I was really excited to order this video. After purchasing and watching it I cannot say that my review will be as favorable. The video starts with an exposé of Dave and Lisa dancing which is less than impressive. At first I thought maybe it was video clips of various dancers and that Dave and Lisa would come later, like saving the best for last or something, but unfortunately it was them.
As the actual instructional part of the video unfolds, Dave let's us know that he's been dancing for 20 years, but honestly you wouldn't know it from watching him (I don't mean to be rude, but it is true); on the other hand, Lisa is actually pretty good. There is minimal breakdown of the patterns which you may think is fine, because you are thinking that means they pack more steps on the tape and also you can rewind as often as you like, but believe me, it gets old fast. Also, if you have been dancing for a while, you know some patterns have a nice flow and others are just awkward, my impression of this video is that it contains more of the latter.
To be sure, there is information to be had from this tape, and I'm sure you can get *something* from it, but just don't expect too much. If you have seen tapes by Josie Neglia, Enio & Teryl, etc. this tape is not in the same league.
