Customer Reviews of Die by the Sword
Tear A New Orifice Into The Bad-Guys! Die By The Sword has online multi-player features, but single-player mode is a ball! The combat system is very detailed. Via the mouse, you have FULL directional control over both arms of your fighter, and crouching, and jumping. You essentially hack-n-slash with the mouse in all directions. You can improvise combinations of attacks with both sheild and sword during play, or you can pre-program your own original more sophisticated choreographed triggered moves. The overall game-play is very entertaining, and Die By The Sword has serious attitude. As you forge your way deeper and deeper into a mountainous dungeon, you get the impression that your character is not only "kicking-butt and taking names", but also discovering some greater plot, albeit a corny one. The character comments are pretty funny Scottish slang. The puzzles are fun, especially the gigantic razor-blade pendelums, and the octopus arms that pick you up and bounce you off the ceiling (OUCH!). The game gets spooky in parts, like the creepy invisible ghost-warrior level. You can get the expansion pack for even more realistic gore and dismemberment, and hack up all your friends online.
I get the feeling that the designers of the *game* "Die By The Sword" were listening to a certain *song* entitled "Die By The Sword" written by a metal-band named Slayer as they cooked up this hack-n-slash masterpiece.
THIS GAME ROCKS!
For those of you with medium speed computers....THIS GAME ROCKS! THERE IS ALOT OF INOVATION and gladiatorial fun in this game
thats been overlooked by the more popular successors. They should have kept making add ons for it!
