Customer Reviews of Dennis Miller - The Raw Feed
A comedian that THINKS, and gets you thinking also I just have to laugh derisively at all of the one-star reviewers here. The "logic" of all of those reviews goes like this: "I don't agree with his politics, so he's not funny." Suddenly, as soon as Miller, a comedian of formidable talent, is joking about something that you disagree with, he suddenly becomes a "shill," a "hack," and someone who is less than talented.
You all know darn well that if Miller were cracking jokes for the Democrats and the liberal point of view, you'd be cheering him on like the sign-waving rah-rah crowd at a DNC convention. Don't kid yourselves, and don't take away from Miller's obvious talent.
I don't agree with everything Miller says, either. But the guy is funny. More than that, he is very evidently intelligent, and he is a comedian that makes you think. We need more people like Dennis around. His analysis of current events is razor-sharp as usual, and his witty comments slice through them effortlessly.
There is a sprinkling of profanity (quite a few f-words), but Miller uses these for emphasis, and most of the time, it feels appropriate.
I dock this one star for being somewhat dated already with topical jokes such as the "impending" war on Iraq. But Dennis' humor is nothing if not topical, so this sort of thing is inevitable. Although dated somewhat, his jokes on subjects such as this are still funny.
Here is a guy that, agree with him or not, is probably the most THINKING comedian of our time. And I love him for it.
Gas up the dingy and go fishing with Fredo.....
Very funny and subtle humor DVD. Miller strikes the iron while it's hot with such relevant topics as terrorism, the Iraq War, our French and German "allies," North Korea and religion. He then transitions to Bomb-Sniffing Dogs, the ACLU, Circuit City Receipts, and the endless Cadre of Celebrities. Lines like, Gas up the dingy and go fising with Fredo seem to resonate to those overly saturated in pop culture and are in a subculture of their own. WARNING: If you are liberal, you will not like this guy. Eh, there's enough ill-will disguised as humor on the other side of the fence. Miller was funny on SNL, good on HBO, and great in this. Although, the NFL gig... Dennis, was it the pay or were you getting your fee wet? What could top this? A follow up with the countless goings on nowadays. Howard Dean, Bush, The Dixie Chicks, Christmas, and so many other topics would probably be the sacred cows to be ground up.
He's just not funny
There's one thing wrong with Dennis Miller: He's a comedian who isn't funny. His right-wing rhetoric is so extreme anymore that it's scary. And not just scary. Ann Coulter scary. What happened to him? Instead of laughing I'm horrified by the crazy messages he's trying to send to people. He's mad I tell you! Mad!
