Customer Reviews of Dell LP1700N Network Laser Printer (25ppm, 250 sheet paper tray, 1200x1200 dpi)
Fast, efficient and good quality printing I bought this Dell to replace my Epson C86, I was sick and tired of paying so much money for ink replacement cartridges, slow sleed from my inkjet and also there is the fact that I hardly ever print a photo or need color, the Dell is extremely fast (compared to my Epson C86) with excellent text output (again compared to my C86) and a very low $1.7 cents cost per page average which is a hell of a lot cheaper than my Epson inkjet. All in all I reccomend this printer highly and advise those who are tired of spending so much money in ink cartridges to switch to laser.
be wary
I bought the 1600n - which was the earlier multi-function version.

>After four firmware upgrades I still get frequent print errors. The manual feed never aligns correctly. New ink ain't cheap.

>I would read some critical reviews before I ever buy a Dell printer again.
Gets only one star because ZERO is not an option
Its a great printer. But the cartridges are exhorbitantly priced. Refill kits and reloaded carts are available, but they cost as much as buying one from Dell and there's no guarantee that they will work. A new printer can be had for $152, and a 6000 page cartridge is $90. Then there is the drum kit...ah, sorry. Not working for me. I don't like the math.
