Customer Reviews of Declaration
One of the Best CD that he has released Great CD!!. Of course I haven't found one of his that isn't.
You have the upbeat songs of "Life Out Loud", & "Jesus is Life"
To the mellow ones like "No Greater Love" & "When Love Takes
You In" & "Carry You to Jesus".
There are more upbeat songs than mellow ones on this CD than others.
Just roll down the car windows and enjoy the ride!

Steven Curtis Chapman Does It Again!
I have been a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman's music since the early 90's. He has never failed to entertain and challenge me with his music, and this CD is no exception.
The CD opens with the driving song "Live Out Loud." This song, like several of his past songs, takes a current pop culture hit and uses it to make a point about Christianity. And it's fun.
From there, the project hits many more high notes. "No Greater Love" is a magnificent song inspired by the classic story told in "Through Gates of Splendor." Be sure to read the notes on that song.
My favorite songs are right next to each other. "God is God" tackles the pain we experience in life and reaches the same conclusion Job did - I don't understand God's way, but He is God so I need to trust Him. "See the Glory," the "Gameboy" song, is another fun song reminding us to stop looking at what's going on around us and remember who God is.
Looking back over the list, there are only one or two songs I don't like, and they're continuing to grow on me.
I have had this CD playing almost constantly since I got it. It's fun, yet manages to tackle some serious subjects in a mature way. I highly recommend it for any Steven Curtis Chapman fan.
Declaration of a great Christian songwriter/singer/musician
Stephen Curtis Chapman just keeps getting better with age! I was privileged to buy this CD while they were giving out the free CD 'introduction to Declaration' in which SCC explains what prompted him to write each song. I was amazed to hear that he and Mary Beth were celebrating their sixteenth wedding anniversary while he was composing these amazing songs. Somehow I pictured him much younger and perhaps he is as ageless as his great music. If you were not privileged to listen to the introduction CD then much of what he sang about would be 'just another nice song', For instance, the song 'No Greater Love' had some seemingly weird chanting in it. If you did not know that this was a song sung by one of the Amazon Indians that murdered four white missionaries many years ago and one of the wifes and her daughter stayed, despite what had happened and eventually led this man to the Lord Jesus. He sings in his native tongue and this was a great blessing to my heart to know that there are people who take the gospel to the lost no matter how dangerous because they know that God is in the business of changing peoples lives.
The song 'When Love Takes You In' was written by him for his adopted Korean daughter. There is just so much one could say about every one of these songs and the reason he wrote them and why they are special. "God is God" is so breath taking and 'God Follower' and 'Magnificent Obsession' are awesome. 'I will carry you to Jesus' brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it. Then there is SCCs 'Declaration of Independence'.. what a great song.... what great lyrics! and how wonderfully it is sung. I heard that SCC actually damaged his vocal chords during the production of this album and that is why there was no SCC release in 2002 and we had to wait an extra year for his next album 'All About Love'.
I trust that Stephen Curtis Chapman will remain as young as he sounds because I look forward to every new release that comes out. BLESS YOU STEPHEN.
