Customer Reviews of DVD X Copy Gold
Don't get the Gold edition I don't recommend getting the Gold edition. Gold edition comes with DVD X-Copy and DVD X-Copy express. DVD X-Copy works great, however most movies are split onto 2 dvd's which is understandable since cosumer recordable DVD drives are only capable of burning 4.7Gb DVD's and most DVD movies you buy are on dual layer DVD discs which hold approx 9Gb of storage.
DVD X-Copy X-press however uses some kind of compression program. I could not get any copy made by x-press to play on my home DVD player, and only a few of them would play on my home computer (AMD XP2500+ oc'd to 3200+, 1Gb Corsair XMS Ram, WD 120Gb HD, Radeon 9800Pro, SB Audigy 2, etc). DVD X-Copy is a good program, however the X-press program is problematic. Just buy the DVD X-Copy version, not GOLD.
XP express easy to use fit everything in a single dvd
I have the gold edition; It comes with DVD X copy and XP express, but I found that I only needed XP express, it will copy everything in one single DVD no need the hassle of 2 dvd's (if you use X copy). XP express claims that it uses data compression, I did not notice any difference with the original movie, it is just as clear; beware that it takes twice as long if you choose to backup entire disk with menu and chapter selection features. I usually omit this option. Usually it takes half an hour to read and another 45 minutes to write without using the "entire disk" option. I have a win98se and sony dru510A, and 10 GB of free disk space.
God help you if you need support
Well one needs to understand that there are two products, DVD x Copy and express as part of the gold package, each one uses a different burner software. It's now been 2 weeks since I purchased. To date support has been no help, I've re-installed the software about 15 times at there request and still nothing. Calling on weekends (long distance I may add, no 800 number), expect to spend 20-30 minutes on hold until someone picks up. Overall it's support is rated -1, that's how bad it's been, if I could get my money back I would. To date I've been on the phone 6 hours and emailing for a week. Be prepared to remove a good portion of software on your system, seems DVD X Copy is very particular about who it shares disk space with. Can't blame the software, but don't expect great support if it does not install and work.
