Quarreling classmates Ken and Mizuki train at D.C., the Global Environmental Research Institutive, to help clean up the polluted ruins of Tokyo in 2040. They've just finished basic training in service mecha when a gigantic robot appears. Mizuki suspects something's amiss because D.C. has begun arming their mecha and completed work on the gargantuan war robot Balcion. When she sees her commander with a mysterious case that's linked to a series of explosions, Mizuki grows more suspicious. The plot shifts when Mizuki and Cybuster, the monster robot, are transported to the planet of La Guias by a "micro black hole." Viewers familiar with other mecha shows will find Cybuster (2004) often feels like a rerun on its first viewing.
