While many old ballparks have been torn down and replaced in recent decades, Wrigley Field remains cherished as one of the few vintage ballparks in use today. This hubbub-filled, challenging puzzle captures Wrigley Field on July 21st, 1935 for the Chicago Cubs vs. New York Giants doubleheader. Wrigley Field was built in 1914 at the corner of Clark and Addison Streets on grounds once occupied by a seminary. It is the third oldest ballpark in the major leagues, behind Detroit's Tiger Stadiuim and Boston's fenway, both built in 1912. Charles Weegham, a wealthy restuarant-chain owner, originally owned the property and thus the park was known as Weegham Park. The Park was home to Chicago's Federal League club, then known as both the Federals and the Whales. When the Federal League folded for financial reasons in 1915, Weegham purchased the Cubs of the National League from the Taft Family of Cincinnati, moving the club into the two-year-old ballpark. The park became known as Cub's Park in 1916 when the Wrigley family purchased the team from Weegham. It was renamed officially in 1926 as Wrigley Field in honor of the club's owner, William Wrigley, Jr., and has been the home of the Chicago Cubs ever since. Wrigley Field was long known for being the only major ballpark without lights until they were installed in 1988.
