Customer Reviews of Crib Tent
Son figured it out at age 27 months The crib tent is great! We originally got it to keep our cats out, but then it served the purpose of keeping our son in too. :) UNTIL... at 27 months, he learned how to reach through the crib slats & undo the zipper!!!! :-o So now we're in a hurry to get a toddler bed this week! <

>It is hard to change sheets with the crib tent, but just get the "ultimate crib sheet" & it's a piece of cake! :) Also, it is *possible* to put down the side rail of the crib, but this does lower the tent too & can bop you in the head. ;)
Great product
My son was one of those climbers so i had to buy this when he was 18 months. He was able to climb out but had a couple falls that made me nervous. We have had it for awhile now and i absolutely love it. I am also happy to have it for the next child so that i don't have to worry about my son throwing things into the crib. I recommend it to all parents. It is easy to assemble. I have one at my mom's house and home. At first my son was a little uneasy about it but i zipped it up while he was sleeping each night until he just got used to it. Now he asks me to do it.
Some Peace of Mind
Well, it was bound to happen...our nearly 19 mo old daughter, who has never been a great sleeper anyway, woke up a few nights ago in the middle of the night. We were trying to let her cry herself back to sleep (traumatic for all involved!), but I suddenly realized that there was a distinct change in the sound of her crying over the monitor. Went to her door and sure enough, she had climbed out of the crib. My husband and I decided then and there that we had to find something like this product. Our daughter is definitely not old enough to be trusted roaming around her room or the house on her own, we don't want her to get into the habit of sleeping with us, and I didn't want to chance putting her back in her crib. Luckily our local Babies 'r Us had this product in stock, b/c i noticed that it is out of stock online. We put it together in about 15 mins...it's not that complicated, but because it is like putting up a tent (getting tension by using rods), it definitely helps to have another person. It seems to fit our standard size crib fine. There are only two downsides to this product, but they are fairly major and they are the reason I have not given it 5 stars. 1) you can't put down the crib rail when the tent is on the bed. (this is a major pain for me and I'm 5'7". I can't imagine what someone shorter would do!) 2) the zipper is incredibly loud. Even if I wait to zip it until she's been sleeping a while, she still wakes up because of the noise, and this baby is not generally a light sleeper. I even tried putting soap on the zipper track, but it didn't seem to do anything. I don't understand why the manufacturer can't fix these problems -- just about every other person here has mentioned these issues!
The upside is that for the past two nights she has not climbed out of the crib. She doesn't seem to particularly like the tent (as do some of the other children mentioned in posts here), but she doesn't hate it, either. One other thing...I noticed at Babies 'R Us that there is a Cozy Crib Tent II out now. It has net on the sides as well as the top and unfortunately still has a zipper closure. It costs 10 bucks more, too. Since we don't have sibling or cat issues, I didn't think it was worth the extra money, but it may be useful for other ppl....i just wish that the folks at Tots In Mind would fix that darn zipper!!!!!
