Customer Reviews of Cozy Rider Soft Carrier
A good carrier for its price!! We got this carrier as a shower gift, and we really like it. I have to agree with the other reviews that it's a little tricky to get baby in and out - but you get what you paid for. We thought about buying the Baby Bjorn, but I think it's too expensive for a carrier that we won't use that much anyways. So we have the Cozy Rider and also the EuroRider(also by Infantino), that is much similar with the Baby Bjorn and have a much better system for getting baby in and out - we can do it without waking the baby, and cost half of the Bjorn.
So if you plan on having the carrier for occasional use only, I recommend the Cozy Rider. I used it in supermarkets, the mall, and at home too, when my baby was fussy and wanted to cuddle all the time. It does start hurting your back after a while(30-40 minutes or so), but it didn't bother me that much. The EuroRider has more padding, which helps a lot, but cost twice as much as the CozyRider(we bought it gently used though!!)
So, bottom line, this is a great carrier for its price - easy to adjust and our baby loves it. If you plan on hiking or wearing it for longer periods of time, you might want to look into a carrier with more padding(like the Euro Rider or Baby Bjorn). If not, this one will do just fine!!! I recomend it.
Similar to much more expensive products
I purchased this product in a store, and I compared it side-by-side with the Bjorn -- both out of box. After looking at both products carefully, I just couldn't justify spending 4 times more on the Bjorn.
I don't regret choosing the Cozy Rider at all. Its fabric is soft enough for a newborn, and I haven't seen any skin irriation. It is thoughtfully designed, and once you have it properly adjusted, it's only a matter of buckling or unbuckling in two places (definitely take the time to adjust it properly --> baby high on chest, snug fit, cross buckle in back centered).
A few final details: my baby is under 8 lbs, and I think it will be a better product for both of us once she puts on some weight and grows a little more (3 days old); she's comfortable enough in the carrier to fall asleep in it and stay asleep while I go about doing various things; this product feels very safe and secure (again, when properly adjusted); getting the baby in and out is a little bit of a challenge, especially if she's wearing a gown that bunches up easily -- realistically, though, I doubt it's much easier on other designs.
And, last but not least, I bought this product at a local Target for $14.99 + tax. I recommend the product, and buying it at a local store, so you can return it easier and get a replacement more quickly if you don't like it. If you do like it as much as I do, there's plenty of other things in the baby aisle on which to spend the $70 you just saved.
Tough to extract
It was very tough to put my baby in and take her out of this item. The straps are not well padded, therefore it is pretty tough on the shoulders. I always felt uneasy about the velcro hook on the one side - that was all that was keeping her in on that side. It always stayed, but I was nervous. I gave this three stars because it does a great job for the price. However, I traded expense for comfort.
