Good Enough for EMS
I need to start out by saying that I am not a parent, but this is a topic near and dear to my heart. <

>One of the best things about it is its 'everything' capability. It is rear facing car seat, forward facing car seat, and converts to a belt-positioning booster when the child gets older. <

>The harness is one of the best on the market, as its adjustable without having to rethread the entire contraption. Many other comperable car-seats require an adult to disconnect the harness straps and thread them thru different slots on the back. It is a huge time saver, and much less likely to accidently get threaded wrong due to user error. <

>The major adjustable parts are marked in red, which is extremely useful, whether you're a parent suffering that 4-hours-of-sleep haze or a paramedic setting it up for a pediatric transport. One of the things I find that many parents don't consider is who potentially could be trying to sort out and install the car-seat, especially when a parent may not be present to offer helpful tips (grandparents, babysitters, emergency services, etc). <

>Another great thing about this car seat, is that it can handle a wide variety of different body shapes of a child. This car seat is taller than most, but its a benefit when you have a child who puts on height faster than they put on weight. When they're three and a half, you won't need to purchase a new, bigger seat for six months just because they've hit the height limit on their current seat. <

>I've seen it fare very well in a few motor vehicle accidents. While we never want to see anyone involved in a crash, its pretty fantastic when the baby has minor injuries or none at all, and the car seat has obviously taken the brunt of the force. <

>Its bulky. There's really no way around it. I've maneuvered it into almost any conceivable style of vehicle, ambulances, sedans, pickups, police cars, minivans. I am not thrilled with the way it fits into smaller sedans rear-facing, and while I haven't tried every pickup in the planet it usually doesn't fit rear-facing in the smaller back seats of pickup trucks, there just isn't enough room. Its pretty universial for car seats in general, but three of them don't fit side-by-side in a vehicle backseat. <

>I think the cup holders and the armrests are a downside. They're sturdy, adjustable, and probably not a consideration for most parents. Having an alpha omega for every ambulance in the company fleet, I pinched more of my OWN fingers while installing/adjusting/readjusting/demonstrating/educating in and out of the stretchers on the ambulances. But then again, ambulances aren't normal modes of transport on a daily basis, and parents may actually have a use for cupholders that we don't. <

>I find that very small infants and newborns can't always be positioned correctly in the rear-facing position in an easy manner. The smallest babies need to be reclined a little more than the seats can provide easily, this can be remedied with either a rolled up towel or a portion of cut-up pool noodle (both of which are acceptable, feel free to grill any CPS technician during a car seat check at your local fire department/police department/state farm/etc). There has only been one situation where, during a car seat check, I recommended that the alpha omega car seat was not the best option for a child. The little girl was about seven days old, weighed a touch over five pounds, and had some medical complications. In that instance, a rear facing infant carrier seat was a better option for her until she gained a little more weight. <

>Alpha Omega car seats are my personal preference. After becoming a certified child passenger safety (CPS) technician for an ambulance company, we invested in approximately a dozen alpha omega car seats for the fleet. I own two alpha omega seats for the occasional trips with my two god-children (eleven months and five years). I can't quite count how many I've purchased for friends and family as gifts, close to eight I think. I truly feel they're the best around. <

>In the full spectrum of car seats, they are just about average when it comes to initial set-up and becoming familliar with it. It gets high points for its versatility, and its adjustments after initial set-up. I've heard it knocked for the LATCH system, but LATCH is universial nowadays, and its not particularly different from anything else on the market.

LOVE this car seat!
I bought this car seat for my son after he outgrew his carrier seat (which I definitely reccomend for infants), when he was about 8 months old. Then, this past August we were in a pretty bad car accident. The other four people in the car, including myself had to go to the hospital and were pretty banged up. My son was safe and sound without a scratch on him! I immediately went and bought the same car seat to replace the one that had been in the accident! <

>On top of that, I've found the seat extremely easy to use. The latch system is very easy (we switch from my car to my husband's car all the time), the pull between his legs to tighten the straps, and the adjustable head rest so you never have to re-thread the straps! I can't say enough good things about this seat!
