Customer Reviews of Cool World
worth a second look (believe it or not) When I first wrote this review which was pretty much negative, it had been 5 years since I saw Cool World. I watched it for the second time last week and there is something about this "sleazy cousin of Who Framed Roger Rabbit" as a previous reviewer put it that for some reason holds a bit of my interst. Cool World could probably be described as one of the not-so-great movies that features the interaction of cartoons and real people. Not only is the plot weak, it has a bit of a naughty side to it. Still, there is something about Cool World that make me want to possibly see it a third time. For one thing, Kim Basinger makes a sexy cartoon character. Another thing is that I have always favored and been fascinated by movies that put cartoons and real people together such as Bednobs and Broomsticks, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Space Jam just to name a few. However, Cool World is definately not a movie that I would go out and buy. So what I'm saying is that if Cool World comes on television I would suggest giving it a look but I wouldn't suggest spending money to rent it unless you just feel you have to see it. Of course, if you compare Cool World to Who Framed Roger Rabbit as many reviewers have done, you will be disappointed. Cool World is only worth 2.5 stars at most but I'll give it the other half star just to be nice. Word of caution to parents; this movie is rated PG-13 for a good reason and should not be viewed by children under 13 or by children even a couple years older than 13 as far as I'm concerned.

Don't listen to Leonard M. As for these other nay-sayers:
"-oh, stop whining people - its a cartoon! And a good one. I would buy it if it were on DVD with Letterbox. Cool World soars, literally. From dimension to dimension, from black top speedway to ultra level dreamscape; there's colour, goofy critters running around, imagination and short skirts. There's Gabriel Byrne - Yum! And then there is Kim Basinger: Yowza! - she's de'lish, she's zany, she can sing, she knows how to make fun of herself, has a good time and it shows. She's not afraid to take risks.
She's so beautiful to watch both as a 'toon and in reel life.
She is: HER KIM-NESS. Cool World is a treat for Kim fans. Her detractors are just jealous.
Please tell the movie folk to release this wonderful odyssey of a film as DVD/Letterbox - pronto.

So would I!

Bakshi's worst movie
The movie is poorly written not to mention the lame special effects. Its a completly souless film. If you liked Fritz the Cat,Wizards,American Pop, or other films by Ralph Bakshi, than stay away from this, because its embarassing.
