Customer Reviews of Complete Fullmetal Alchemist DVD Bundle eps 1-51(Volume 1-13+ Movie)
OK just if you wanna series...BUT... An ok buy if you want to just watch the series with no special features, nav menus, and such, not even a choice of watching the series in japanese if you wanted... 1 Disc didn't play well in a DVD player or PS2, but played on my computer. the video and sound quality is good to fair. it vary's from episode to episode. The cases and dvd labels were made on a home printer. so it's all most likely a RIPPED COPY. The movie wasn't done well... as far as vid quality. sound was good. Was in Japanese with HORRID english subtitles... mispellings, subltitles in the wrong place, and sometime repeating in totally different parts of the movie. <

>I would only recommend this to those who don't have the money (like mwa) or just want to see the series + movie for the sake of just seeing it... if you want the series and movie with the works, quality, and features, you should wait a bit and buy the real set.
An okay collection, but leaves alot to be desired...
I just bought this recently... So far, it's pretty good, but I have some problems with it... Namely because it has a compadibility issue with PS2. I watch most of my DVDs in my room, using my PS2 to play them, but this set doesn't read so well inside my PS2... Blurring of images, pixalization, and skiping... At first I thought my PS2 was dirty, so I cleaned it, but the problem persisted. At one point I thought my PS2 was broken, but after testing other DVDs in it I knew it was the disc itself. It plays just fine in an ordinary DVD player though, so if you don't own a PS2 or simply don't use it for DVD playback, then this set of DVDs is fine. This DVD is an import, lacks option menus & scene selections, only plays in English with no option to change the track to Japanese with English subtitles, and the credits haven't been traslated... No biggie though, all of the signs & things in the show are in English, considering that FMA is based in a western-style culture, but still... Lack of options, special features, and the PS2 compadibility issues really make this collection suffer. Pros: A full collection of the Fullmetal Alchemist series! Contains episodes 1 through 51 plus the movie! 3 volumes on 5 disks, great for space-saving! Great picture quality, crystal clear sound, good mastering! Full screen presentation. Cons: Certain episodes do not play well on a PlayStation 2. Cases artwork is nothing more than a copy of the artwork on the first 3 volumes of the American release, done on a crumby printer! Artwork on cases leads me to believe that this is not an import, but possibly pirated. No navigation menus! No scene selection! No options what so ever! DVD will begin playing episode 1 from the instant you load it into your DVD player, so you have to hit the "Disc Menu" button on your remote or Triangle on your Dual Shock 2 if you want to go to the Episode Index and choose which episode you want to view. Why does Edward Elric have both of his normal arms at the Episode Index menu??!! Overall: An okay choose if you're low on cash, or just don't want to spend alot on the complete FMA series. This is a very basic, "bare bones" DVD with no special features, but when it comes to simplicity and price it's an ideal choice. If you're looking for a collection with lots of special features, then you're probably better off buying the genuine article whenever it's released in the US. Rating: 3.5 Stars
