Customer Reviews of ComfortSport Convertible Car Seat in LaPorte Print
Bought it at Toys R Us and returned in 2 weeks. My son did not feel comfirtable in it. The sheild scared him every time we tried to brin it down. I would not buy it again.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this carseat
My parents bought this carseat because they felt the one we gave was too complicated with the weaving of the straps. I rolled my eyes, but after putting my daughter in theirs a few times-I went out and bought it too. We love this carseat. I read another review that says the padding crumpled. We purchased ours three years ago and the padding is fine. Maybe that stores shipment go left out in the heat/cold/whatever. My husband is planning on buying one for his car now for our second child.
Doesn't seem all that safe
We bought this seat as a 2nd seat for my husband's car. Thankfully, my son almost never has to ride in it! I bought this because I thought my son would enjoy having the shield to play on and the cups for his bottle and Cheerios.

>MAybe it is just me because I am so used to having the Britax Marathon in my car, but this seat's plastic shell seems flimsy, and the springs that hold the shield in place feel like they could pop out if you just tugged hard enough. Also, I was taught by a certified childseat inspector how to properly and securely install a seat. No matter WHAT I did, this carseat wobbled side to side and when I arrived at my destination, my baby was screaming because his seat was like tipping over in the car. Not to mention the recline mechanism is a piece of crap plastic square that you have to yank at to fold in.

>Furthermore, there is a lot of widely available information on the safety of 3-point harnesses vs. 5-point, and the safety of the 5 pt is unparalled. This seat does not secure baby's lower half of his body at all, in fact the crotch strap isn't even flush against his, well, crotch! I am afraid if I were in an accident, he would go flying out of this seat, it is so wobbly and the plastic is poor quality and the shield is like an a pop-out accident waiting to happen. And from what I gather, most little kids aren't thrilled at the idea of having a huge piece of padded plastic plus a dangling metal buckle hit them in the face while you try to tug the shield over their heads. I should realized that in the store!

>I realize that there are people who cannot afford a $250 carseat. My advice: save what you can, borrow money, whatever!! The Britax are by far the safest seats on the market (consult NHTSA, they'll tell you) and the most well-made and comfortable. A baby's safety should never be compromised even if finances stand in the way. Sometimes I wonder why these baby companies have done so well over the years - I guess because even if their products are junk, people are always looking for a deal and would rather be cheap than concerned with their child's well-being and safety.
