Customer Reviews of Combat Medic Special Ops
Neat game that doesn't work. After three re-installs, a software patch, and five emails to tech support I had to return this game. It's a neat game, but I could never play it past the first 2-3 minutes because it would crash. The key problem seems to be the Wild Tangent system it uses for the graphics.
In a nutshell: Neat concept, lousy code. I would advise against it.
MEDIC!!!!! This game is burning my brain away!!!!!
I got Combat Medic on a whim because the cover looked cool hehe. I was hoping it would be a first-person shooter combined with trying to save your fellow soldiers at the same time. I was sadly wrong. First off, I started the first level and the cutscene was an actual real life video that anyone can see was poorly put together. That put me on the lame track right away. Next I found, to my dismay, that the main view is a bird's eye view of the battlefield with a little guy representing you running around shooting enemy soldiers outlined by red boxes, getting help by green-boxed friendly soldiers, and saving yellow-boxed wounded soldiers.
Before you start a mission you pack your medical supplies, but it's not hard to bring almost everything you could possibly need in any possible situation. The game would've been made better right there by having more of a limit on what you could bring. The view of the soldiers when you're helping them is first-person, but the graphics are really pretty poor. If you're getting shot at you can call for help and the friendly soldiers with surround you and protect you. The sounds the soldiers make is really annoying, the designers tried to hard to make them sound panicked and in pain. So after you help them as much as you can you have to decide whether to send them back into action or have the MedEvaced. If you have them MedEvaced a soldier will come drag them to the evac area and after you've taken care of all the wounded scripted for that level, you drag all the guys you set to evac into the chopper that comes to pick you up.
At first, the cases you experience in the field are interesting. Bt sooner or later you've seen them all and it's getting really boring. The only really interesting ones I experienced in my time playing this was amputating a guy's leg that was stuck under a fallen building and helping and evacing a wounded enemy soldier late in the game. The graphics when you're running around the battlefield are horrid and the graphics when you're helping the wounded soldiers is mediocre at best. The sound gets really annoying in all parts of the game and after awhile it's just really boring and tedious.
I'm giving you fair warning now though. It's one of those really bad games that once you start playing for some reason you can't stop you know? So save yourself and don't end up like me and DON'T PLAY OR BUY THIS GAME! Maybe they send out narcotic radio waves through your computer and that's how they keep you playing and staring at the screen until you're a mindless drool monkey.

From a former Army medic
I was never with the Rangers or saw combat, but this was a great game, I did question some of the treatments that the game recommends, however besides that it was a blast. I definitely recommend this for anyone that has any military medical background. For the non-medical inclined person this game will require some extra reading. The graphics and some of the controls left something to be desired, at times trying to get the crosshairs on the part of the body to be treated was very difficult.
