Customer Reviews of Classic Pooh - Wall Border - Timeless Memories
Very Pleased Despite Initial Apprehension I read the negative reviews on this border and was apprehensive about using it. But it complements the Classic Pooh Timeless Memories collection so well, so we decided to go ahead and purchase it. We textured our walls a little before applying satin latex paint, so I figured the self-stick feature would not work. If you go into it assuming that, I think you'll be a lot happier with the product. We bought a ... container of border adhesive. The directions said it was for attaching vinyl borders to any existing surface. And it worked great. One tip is to be sure you are "booking" each section of the border. Apply the adhesive and fold the border over itself paste-to-paste. Be careful not to crease the folded edge. Let it sit there for three to five minutes, gently pull it apart and affix to the wall. Smooth over it to remove bubbles. My husband and I put up the border in roughly three hours. And it looks beautiful! Oh, and we had one roll that had a different dye lot. The brown plaid was a little darker and Pooh was a different shade. So, watch for that even though it's not that noticeable. Overall, we are very pleased.
Do It Right
We bought this border for our baby's room even after reading the reviews that said it didn't stick. After we bought it, I went to [the store] and got wallpaper paste, fully expecting to need a little help getting it to stick. For us, the border was just too cute to pass up, even if it took some extra work.
Well, I ended up trying to put the border up by myself without the paste one afternoon and it worked absolutely fine! I was able to do it without any help, and not once did it fall down. It was also extremely easy to pull off if it needed adjusting, and it never pulled up the paint. The only place that was tricky was right near the window - it was a cold day and the wall was chilly, so I had to use some extra pressure to get it to warm up and stick. It's been over a week and it hasn't fallen down at all.
Now let me clarify just a bit: we just moved into our house, and the baby's room was the most beat up. The walls were in serious need of repair. We bought a rotary sander and sanded down ALL the walls in the room, then spackled, then sanded again. We primed the walls after that, then painted. This is probably why the border stuck so well - very little texture to the walls (which someone else had mentioned). If you don't have the time (or energy) to sand a whole room, I suggest buying some wallpaper paste in case you need it. It's cheap and worth it if you really like the border. The room looks awesome!
adorable border
We bought this border before our daughter was born. We did the nursery in the timeless memories classic pooh theme and it is adorable. So many different items to accent the room with. We had freshly painted the room, and I didn't need any wallpaper adhesive to apply this border.I bought a $4 can of clear wallprimer at Walmart and applied it at the top of the wall where we were going to apply the border. I painted the primer on with a paint brush and then applied the border. It looks great. Maybe a couple of air pockets, but not noticeable and smoothed out easily. It still looks great and our daughter is 7 months old.
