Various 3rd Party Reviews
Hi, I'm the director of this film. Below I've posted some word-for-word 3rd party reviews. Thanks.
Village Voice - by Gary Dauphin -- Circus Redickuless is a straight-up gem about an ill-fated `punk circus' tour mounted by a group of no-talent L.A. rejects. Documenting the troupe's every setback, Circus ennobles its bit players and losers, giving them the chance (on tape, at least ) to be the adventurers and art-hackers that's so obviously going to elude them in real life.
Winner - - Best Film - - New York Underground Film Festival - - 1998
Dallas Morning News - Chris Vognar - [referring to other film in review]...equally funny but far less troubling was the premiere of Circus Redickuless, a whirlwind, tongue-in-cheek chunk of punk from the promising Phillip Glau. A 28-year-old Angelino with fluorescent orange hair, Mr. Glau and his camera traveled across the country with his friends' `punk rock circus,' a comically talentless crew of free spirits led by a swindler extraordinaire named Chicken John. It's a must see for all who think their tour took a few bad turns. Countless van breakdowns, shut-down venues, beans for dinner and a lingering smell of mutiny in the air make this a biting, hilarious slice of utter chaos, packaged and presented by a talented one-man film crew.
Indiewire -- Rebecca Sonnenshine -- IDA's `Doctober' Forecasts Oscar Winners With Awesome Slate. Phillip Glau's `Circus Redickuless' without a doubt took the cake as the strangest, bawdiest, and funniest participant of the bunch. The documentary follows a group of rag-tag, punk slackers who decided to follow their friend, Chicken John, on a `punk rock circus' tour. Things go from bad to worse as the participants limp through from venue to venue in rickety, unreliable vans, and more importantly, with no real `act.' Fighting breaks out among the disillusioned , inebriated, hungry talent (to use the term loosely), and hilarity ensues. Despite the unlikely subject matter, the film is engaging, energetic, crass and a testament to the filmmaker's storytelling ability.
