Finally Proof Of What Saved My Wife From Breast Cancer Five years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. We read more than 30 books, met with people of all persuasions, etc. We concluded that a whole foods, plant based vegetarian diet was the best approach...but we had no science behind our choice. Meater endorsement of this outstanding book
I ate meat at least twice a day (lunch and dinner). Weekly meals consisted of: steaks, at least 3-4; other read meat, at least 6-7; chicken, at least 3-4; and fish, at least twice a week. Basically, I just love meat, fish and fowl (and I dislike most vegtables). After reading the book, I have weaned myself off of meat. Over the last four weeks, I have dropped to just one salmon dinner in the last 12 days (no other fish, fowl or meat). The reason that I point this out is that the value from the book is not just in the knowledge that it conveys. The value comes from the healthy lifestyle that it encourages one to adopt. One can find fault with the writer's style, but I found it to be interesting, thought provoking and behavior changing...
Lifestyle change after reading is not uncommon
After having read half the book on a plane from MD to CA I was a vegetarian. By the time I finished the book I was a Vegan. This is after having just lost 60 lbs on the South Beach Diet. Now after 90+ days on a Vegan diet the weight is stable, I am enjoying the diet. I am a high end diner and the executive chefs at the restaurants I frequent enjoy the challenge of creating interesting Vegan cusine. The book was very compelling both as a good read and as a good source of data. Very highly recommended.
