It Was Worth It ! <
>I was on the net until the wee hours looking for a specific piece of Chantel cookware. It was worth the effort. Recent articles and blogs I had read made me uncomfortable with all the popular Teflon coated cookware, no matter what the ad information postings have been promoting. <

>The price was right, the product preforms beautifully and I feel the cook surface will be safe for long term use. The instructions for proper use and care of the product were clear and concise. Great workmanship too. <

>None of the other sites had such a great price for the same item;even the offical Chantel site. <

Served me well, but only for a short time
I've had this pan since 2000, and for the first couple of years, I loved it. Even heating, sturdy, heavy design, and beautiful, too (I have the cobalt blue). I found early on that the pan worked better for stirfries and scrambles than for omelettes and pancakes, contrary to Amazon's review. Those concentric ribs make it act more like a grill pan and made it difficult to flip pancakes because oil collects in between the ribs, so the surface of the pancake that's *on top* of the ribs tends to stick. But fine. Use the pan for other applications, and it works wonderfully. For a while, at least.
The big disappointment came in the last year. Contrary again to Amazon's description of those ribs, the nonstick coating started rubbing off the top of them -- even with my use of nylon and wooden utensils -- and worse, some glue or *something* has started leaking out of that metal rim along the top edge of the pan.
When I heat the pan, brownish goo starts fizzling out of the rim and dripping into the pan. I thought that it might be some dirty water that had gotten trapped in the rim when I washed the pan, so I washed it carefully and let it dry for days. But when I tried using it again, the same thing happened.
Pretty disappointing after three years of use. Especially considering the relative priciness of this item. Not sure if that mysterious leakage is just a random occurrence, but consider yourselves warned...
