Customer Reviews of Casey's Shadow
Finally a movie for Quarter Horse people This is my favorite horse movie. It shows that Quarter Horses are the common man's horse. Even though the movie is fiction, it shows that Quarter Horses can take you from the backyard to greatness. I feel a lot of pride as a Quarter Horse owner when I watch this movie.
A horseowner's comments
I haven't seen this movie for several years now. But my recollection is that it's wonderfully produced and directed, full of good humor and the thoroughly entertaining and believable Walter Matthau style. It just all comes together as a great entertainment package for any viewer, but especially for lovers of horses.
Some of the same kinds of accolades could be given to The Horse Whispere, which I am about to purchase on DVD, except for one thing. I know a lot of horse owners who have been disappointed by that production, feeling it falls short on its attention to the communication that is possible between horses and people, concentrating more on the "love story" plot. But my experience has been that all horses owners who have seen Casey's Shadow thought it was absolutely terrific.
I am still waiting for a re-issue of Casey's Shadow on DVD,
One of the best horse movies ever made
The "Rocky" of all horse movies. For those of us who dreamed of being the best but never had the money or the chance Casey's Shadow is as close as it gets. An excellent family movie but Walter Matthau says a lot of cuss words. Best oneliner from the movie, "I'd sell my private parts for medical research before I went on welfare." (Or something like that.) It's a great movie!!
