Customer Reviews of Case Logic GLM4 ExacTrak Mousepad With Gel-eez Wrist Rest
Don't bother I was got this product thinking it would be more comfortable for me because i am on the computer many many hours, but it did nothing. First off the pad provides very little support because when you put your wrist on it the little bit of gel that is in there goes to the side. (and there is a very small amount of gel) Leaving you back on a hard surface. Also it provides a very small surface for you to move the mouse around. To top that the very hard smooth surface gives the mouse ball no grip and you find yourself moving the mouse but it is just sliding on the surface.
IF YOU OWN AN OPTICAL MOUSE IT WILL NOT WORK on this mousepad. I have recently givin this product to a friend who ended up throwing it in the garbage!
Almost perfect except for two fatal flaws
I love the hard surface, I have not had any complaints about the mouse pad part at all. However, the wrist rest is not the best it could be. My major problem with it is the one centimeter bump between the rest and the actual mouse pad. It is raised up a little bit so it is impossible to move the mouse back to touch the wrist rest. While you would not think such a little space to be so important, it virtually renders the rest useless. I have big hands too so if it was going to work for anyone, it would be me. I find that I really have to move the mouse diagonally to get it close enough for my hand to reach while still on the rest.
The other flaw is that there is not enough padding in the wrist rest itself. Perhaps if it was up higher it would solve the other problem. I have not seen many other items that come close to this in terms of a hard surface with a wrist rest, but for [price], I think I will have to return this and keep looking.
One last note, if you have a small mouse such as the ones that came with iMac, this might be perfect, but for big PC mice, it just doesn't fit the bill.
Rough on the rodent
I have a kind of love hate relationship with this mouse pad. I bought it because my hand was constantly going numb while at the PC, and in that respect this product is a marvel. Not only did it offer a comfortable cradle for my wrist, thus stopping the numbness, it also has a nifty litle channel at the top to click your mouse cable into to stop it whipping all over your workspace. The gel is a great idea, and you can even pop it into the fridge to cool it if you already have a sore wrist from over anxious surfing. The actual pad surface is made of plastic, but is textured to offer traction, looking like thousands of tiny half-spheres, and I found no problem with the ball sliding or skipping, but in the time I've had it, two problems have arisen. The first is that because I set my mouse on a high sensitivity, it tends to be tracking over the same small area of the pad repeatedly, an area which has now worn completely smooth in less than 6 months. The second problem is that because the surface has such a fine texture, it tends to wear away the little pads that the mouse slides on, though this seems to have been more of a problem on my cheaper mouse than on mu Microsoft mouse. I'd love to see this same product with the pad area constructed from a slightly more forgiving substance, maybe even interchangeable inserts for the pad area. While it has lasted though, it has served its purpose admirably, I just don't think it will hold out a great deal longer.
