Customer Reviews of Canon EH-13L Semi Hard Case for the Rebel 2000 Camera
Designed for Inconvenience I have owned several Canon cameras and have always been perfectly satisfied with both camera and case. Opening and closing the EH13-L case, however, was so unmanageable that I finally threw it in the trash and bought a universal case from a local discount store. Much, much better. I can't understand why Canon would provide a poorly designed case for such a well designed camera as the EOS Rebel 2000.
Does What A Case Should Do
I bought this case for the Canon Rebel 2000 camera, and although I couldn't tell from the product description or other reviews, I ordered it hoping it would fit over the "Kit" lens -- the 28mm-80mm zoom. Which it does. It's a well-made soft "leather-like" two-piece case with a bottom part that attaches to the camera's tripod socket and a detachable top piece that snaps into the bottom. In several days of use I've found it to protect the camera (and lens) from ordinary jostling, dust, direct sunlight, and so on. To cover the camera, the top piece wraps underneath the camera body and over the lens and camera top. A small tongue velcroes in on one side and a snap at the back secures it all in place. Opening it up to take a pic is a two-handed affair measured in seconds -- it's no speed holster. And you'll have to deal with the top portion dangling from the base, as noted by one review, but for me that hasn't been a problem. I'd have given it five stars if it was priced...less.
Inconvenient, sloppy and just not worth it.
A semi-hard case should give you the ability to quickly get the camera out of your bag, strip off the cover and take a picture all in one swift motion. This is NOT so with this case. I had to struggle with the base that holds the camera to the cover. It got to a point that I had to just take out the base and just use the cover. Even then, the cover is not designed to be removed very quickly. I wanted one that you can strip off with one swift motion. This was not what I got. Instead the locks and velcro openings were located where I had to turn the camera around several times to uncover it.
Please, don't get this if you're looking for a no-hassle cover. It's almost as inconvenient as a hard cover box - except this case doesn't protect the camera as much. What was the designer thinking?
I was going to give it a single star, but it's saving feature is it's looks. It's sleek and low-profiled.
