Managing a Business Contact Center Call Center is a serious professional magazine with a serious look. It focuses its attention on the many aspects of a business contact center, like effective communication, response and resolution, timeliness, management, etc. These are all serious topics for a business segment that is very serious itself. With the exception of the "In Your Ear/ Call Center Satire" section and a few other articles, the tone of Call Center is serious and to the point. <

>The areas of this magazine that I enjoy most are "Reality Check", "Case Studies", and "First Look" sections. I like these monthly departments best is because they present new products and services, business management analysis, and other things than can apply to anyone who works in a managerial role. Other departments in Call Center tend to be geared specifically toward the call center environment and therefore have limited appeal. <

>Another good part of Call Center magazine is the monthly features themselves (the ones that change from month to month). Readers will find four or five of these in each issue and as long as they are not spotlighting a call center conference or something narrower in scope, they often feature some good reading that can apply to any type of management professional- just like the monthly departments. In a typical issue, about one or two of these featured articles will be specifically aimed at call center professionals while the remainder will be varied and broader in scope, making them more readable and more interesting to anyone regardless of career field. <

>Call Center is a short magazine and there is limited space to include all of the necessary materials to create a complete copy, ready for sale. But in spite of the limited space, the articles are very thorough. With four or five monthly features; half a dozen or so columns; and advertisement space; it would seem like there wouldn't be enough room for a good, thorough piece of reading. But Call Center Magazine conserves its space very well, with limited writing space given to some features so that more room is available for other features. It is common, for example, to find articles covering five or six total pages in each issue. When you consider the short length of Call Center, these longer articles can easily take up a substantial chunk of the magazines pages. The editors of Call Center obviously (and correctly!) feel that some topics need extra paragraphs in order to explain everything properly while other articles can be limited in space without limiting their appeal. <

>Overall, Call Center is a very good professional magazine and it offers some good reading material. Don't let the name of the magazine dissuade you- a large number of articles in Call Center are applicable to anyone in any type of business. It is one of the better professional magazines and worth subscribing to and reading on an occasional basis. <
