Customer Reviews of CREATIVE LABS Inspire 2.1 Slim 2600
Good for the first time, and then . . . I've had these for some time now. Initially, they were good, but then after awhile, I noticed that I've only been hearing sound coming from just one of the speakers. I thought it was one of the speakers, but I switched their connection on the subwoofer. It turns out it's the subwoofer. There is something wrong with the port for the left speaker since nothing comes out. I even used my sister's speaker and plugged it in this port, and still nothing comes out.
Everything good except volume control
I bought my speakers 5-6 months back. Theie slim model look nice. Sound quality is also very good and I have loved listening music on my computers with these speakers!
A serious problem with speakers is the volume control pad. Volume control is done by rotating a circular disc. After couple of months, this disc is not working well now. You put the volume control at a particular position, but the volume keeps going UP AND DOWN (i.e. fluctuations) by itself. Sometimes these "automatic" ups and downs are so loud that you get really annoyed! I cannot enjoy listening smoothly on these speakers anymore.
Don't waste your time looking any further
Had these for a year and listen to them 6 to 8 hours a day. Put them on my list for Santa in 2002 after doing several hours of online research. They provide background music from an online service as I code all day. I'm constantly amazed at the fullness of the sound, and the separation is great. I wouldn't try to fill a concert hall with them, but even when they are cranked, the sound is pretty good with none of that annoying vibration sound you hear from many small speakers. (Right now I'm listening to some Zeppelin at high volume. The subwoofer is shaking the table, but the sound is great.) I'm guessing you could spend twice as much and not get any better sound quality. I work on a small table and the main speakers take up very little space. Looks like it would take about 5 minutes to mount them on the wall if needed. And don't worry about the separate volume control; set it once and use the volume control on your computer.
