Customer Reviews of Bugs vs. Elmer
Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd go seven rounds When you are talking Bugs Bunny versus Elmer Fudd you are getting to the basics in terms of Bugs Bunny cartoons. "Bugs vs. Elmer" offers up seven of these classic Warner Bros. Looney Toons from the Forties. bit not the very first one (in case you were wondering): "Fresh Hare" (Director Friz Freleng, 1942), Elmer is a Mountie who is trying to get his rabbit; "Wabbit Trouble" (Bob Clampett, 1941) has Elmer heading to a Jellostone National park for a vacation, but he encounters a wabbit and a bear; "Slick Hare" (Freleng, 1947), is the great one where Humphrey Bogart is trying to get an order of rabbit at a swank restaurant from Elmer the waiter; "The Unruly Hare" (Frank Tashlin, 1945), has Elmer trying to do a survey for the railroad over Bugs' rabbit hole; "Stage Door Cartoon" (Freleng, 1944) has Elmer chasing Bugs all the way from the woods to a vaudeville theater; "Hare Remover Hair" (Tashlin, 1946), Elmer wants to do experiments on Bugs, but it ends up being the other way around; and "The Big Snooze" (Clampett, 1946), is another personal favorite and the ideal last cartoon on the tape: Elmer has had enough and storms out of the cartoon, only to have Bugs disturb his sleep with "Nightmare Paint." There are certainly more classic cartoon confrontations between Bugs and Elmer, but that is another decade and another videotape.
