Customer Reviews of Boys on the Side
Drew Barrymore does it again! Two women are going to CA. Jane (Goldberg), has this friend, Holly (Barrymore). Well, they stop to say hi, and end up with one more in the car!! I won't tell you why, so you can find out for yourself!! But they bond, like most do. They go through a lot. For example, one is gay, one has AIDS, and the other has a baby (only god knows who the father is!) Well, it's sad and funny, and all around a good movie! Barrymore soars, Goldberg is awsome as usual, and Parker is great! oh, the soundtrack is awsome!!
An incredible movie. Incredible performances, Awsome story
This was an incredible movie. It is a rare movie that makes you cry and laugh and sends chills up your spine. It is a story of love and friendship. Whoopie Goldburg is wonderful as always and drew barrymore is as charming as ever but i think mary louise parker shone in this role. They all gave outstanding performances in this film. This is my favorite movie of all time and my favorite soundtrack, with an all women line up. i recommend both to everyone out there. Bring your kleenex.
progressive & interesting plot; indigo girls steal the show!
i'll admit it, i only saw this movie in the theater when it was released because i knew that the indigo girls had a few scenes in it. but when i am not just watching my copy for the indigo girls' bar scene, it is a really great movie and a lot more progressive than most "mainstream" movies out there. it brings three very different women together -- one lesbian, one victim of abuse, and one living with AIDS. the movie chronicles their friendship and how they overcame their own prejudices to better understand each other. though some of the movie is very cliche, all in all it's a pretty good flick.
for all you other indigo girls fans out there: watch for amy ray at the end of the flick as well. ;)
