Customer Reviews of Bon Voyage
As great as Starflyer 59! New Bon Voyage in early October! I can't wait for their new album because this album still entertains me. It is like New Order meets Garbage, only somehow even cooler. If it is still available, buy it now! If not, you don't have long to wait for their new album.
A sound of their own!
This is a fantastic record! It can be described as power pop with a touch of new-wave expermenting! It does not sound like a female led version of Starflyer59, that is an incorrect view of Bon Voyage! What you have is real mellow pop rock with songs of love and friendship! It's beautiful and yet it's a rock & roll record! A must have!
Musical perfection!
I heard the two songs from this album on the BEC sampler "Moms Like Us Too" and knew I just had to get this album. It was even better than I expected. Every song is absolutely awesome. I normally only listen to a new CD several times a week, or one I really like maybe every day, but when I got this I listened to it three times IN A ROW day after day. The guitars are fuzzed out and dreamy, the vocals are whispery, adding to the dreaminess. The sound perfectly fits for a hot, lazy summer day in July or August, near sunset.
I like to put some kind of comparison for readers just to put a handle on it. If you know Blondie's song "Atomic," there is some of that kind of guitar sound on this album. But this is sweeter, dreamier, fuzzier. Fans of Viva Voce and Morella's Forest should find this appealing.
This was my #2 favorite album of 2000. The only reason my #1 album, Broomtree's "Transparent" topped it was because of Broomtree's lyrics. Many of the lyrics I can understand on Bon Voyage (my copy had no lyric sheet) are strange or have incomprehensible meaning. But musically, this album is sheer perfection. I continue to listen to it every summer.
