The finale will be no surprise to moviegoers who know that comedies like this aren't set up to make its leading men losers. But there is one brief skating sequence set in North Korea that will surprise (and shock) many viewers because of its brutality. Ferrell and Heder make a great comedy team. Though he has been accused of playing the same role since his breakthrough performance in Napoleon Dynamite and, to a certain extent, plays a similar type of role here, Heder is spot-on as Jimmy. He manages to convey innocence, bitterness, and longing--all within the span of a few seconds and while wearing a peacock unitard (You can understand why Hector is so enthralled with him). Look for guest appearances by real-life skating champs Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano, Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Nancy Kerrigan, and Sasha Cohen, who gets to sniff Chazz's jockstrap. --Jae-Ha Kim

Customer Reviews of Blades of Glory (Widescreen Edition)
If only you're in a good mood... This movie is full of campy and cheesy humor but somehow doesn't make you want to turn it off. I think Jon Heder was very good in the film; his character is very unsettled. If you liked Dodgeball, you might like this film though this one tries harder. However, the overall plot is a bit too "American Summer Comedy film" 'ish to be considered extraordinary. This is the sort of movie where you get what the trailer promises. Will Ferrell is very talented. If you're in a good mood with the right company, this is for you. Otherwise, forget about it, don't waste your hard earned weekend, much rather watch Seinfeld at home. Good action, though. I thought the funniest scene in the film was when Jon Heder walks into Ferrell cupping the lady's [...]. <

Movie didn't get its fair shake in thearters
I saw this movie abou a week ago and it was hilarious. It's not necessarily what I would take my young child to see. but funny. They really play off of Will Ferrells character being a sex addict and Jon Heder is the perfect comic foil. Check it ou it's worth the money. Wonder if they will have a unrated version? We'll see.
Anchorman on ice
As many reviewers have noted, Will Ferrell and Jon Heder, who star as two rival figure skaters forced to come together and learn life lessons, are basically playing themselves. Well, Ferrell can do drama (see "Stranger Than Fiction" for a role in which he keeps his clothes on), but I don't know about Heder. It doesn't matter, though, in this film.

>Ferrell plays Chazz Michael Michaels (this is considered one of just dozens of very funny jokes), a sex-addict with a seedy past, and Heder plays Jimmy McElroy, a prissy orphan whose career has been micromanaged by his adoptive dad. When the two skaters get into a public tussle during an awards ceremony, they are both suspended. However, Jimmy's stalker finds a loophole - they can compete as a pair, even though they're - gasp - both men. The skaters hate each other, but competing beats the McJobs they're now stuck with. So it's off to train to nonstop with plenty of homophobic humor. Little do they know, they are being watched by rival pair skaters, played by Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, who have a rather un-sibling-like relationship.

>The film has fun mocking the figure skating world and doesn't take itself too seriously. Ferrell seems to be on auto-pilot here, but is still funny. The ending is rather ludicrous, but like the rest of the movie, isn't meant to be analyzed or dissected for deeper meaning. It's just entertainment.
