Customer Reviews of Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes
Incomplete... but still good The back cover of the DVD proclaims that the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath is often overlooked but this release seeks to at least remedy that in part. Tony Martin's voice is in top form and the band plays great. Tony Iommi as always delivers the doom-ladden riffage for which he is known (hell, the guy practically invented heavy metal single-handed!) while bassist Geezer Butler and drumer Bobby Rondinelly rock on non-stop. Of course the bad news is that the setlist presented here is incredibly short! Only nine songs plus the video for Feels Good To me. I think more songs could have easily been included. Still, it's really great to hear live versions of non-Ozzy Osbourne era songs like Anno Mundi and I Witness.
The missing songs drops a 5 star item down to 4
This is the DVD version of an earlier VHS release of a concert from the Cross Purposes tour of the mid-90's which mixed classic Sabbath tracks with their more modern hits. Ozzy fans will be angered by Tony Martin style, but Tony does a great job (by the way, Dio was also a great Sabbath vocalist). Unlike "The Last Supper," this concert was shot with out interview inserts, which makes it more enjoyable to watch. The full long version of "Symptom of the Universe" is a special treat. Tony Iommi: Guitar, Geezer Butler: Bass, Tony Martin: Vocals, Bobby Rondinelli: Drums, Geoff Nicholls: Keyboards.
welcome to the black sabbath tour 1994 !
This is a rare opportunity to watch the early nineties line up of Tony iommi , Glezeer bulter ,Tony martin and boby rondinelli ( on drums) at work together. Great performance at landons hammersmith. dvd approx only - 60 minutes.
i was disappointed to notice there are only 9 tracks in this live concert dvd with 1 studio bonus track ( from "TYR" album - 1990 ( with Iommi, matin, cozy powell on drums and neil murray on bass). The video has 3 songs that where not found on the cd but the dvd has 7 tracks missing that where found on the video version. you can find tony martin's songs " i witness ", " anuo mund" " headless cross" or the classics - " children of the grave " & " mob rules" but you cant find -" neon knights " or sabbath bloody sabbath " the classic one.
if it would have all the 16 tracks it sould be defenitly 5 stars for me and for their old fans!!
