Customer Reviews of Black & Decker Cylinder Bagless Vac
Fairly Pleased I bought this little vacuum machine at Target for a little over $100.00 several months ago. It still seems to be working great. I am still amazed about how much suction power this thing has. I tried to research it prior to making the purchase and found very little information online about it (that's what prompted me to give this review for the next person considering it). This vacuum is imported so there are a few little minor problems. As the previous review stated, it is only 1300W, not 1400W as is pictured on the box. The cord is way too short (Only 15 feet), but I remedied that easy enough with an extension cord. The fact that it is bagless worried me, because they typically lose suction easily. That does not seem to be the case with this one. The Dust Bin is easy to empty, and the filters are really easy to wash/interchange. It stores easily and doesn't take up much space. My biggest complaint is that the Hose is way too short. It seems like when you drag it around the house, it is always crashing into your heels. But the whole thing only weighs a little over 9lbs and has a nice carry handle, so most of the time I just carry it. Be warned though! The "Turbo" Nozzle is not powered electrically. It is Air-Driven. This has proven problematic on Thicker carpets in my house. The beater brush tends to stop moving when the carpet is very thick or much pressure is applied. Still, it does a pretty descent job getting hair out of the carpet. I recently took it to my Aunts Home to help her clean house when her vacuum quit. She has really long hair, and it quickly wrapped around the beater brush to the point that it stopped turning. I never lost suction, and it took about 15 minutes to clean the hair out of the Turbo Nozzle, but no harm done. It still works. It just doesn't handle long hair well. For this reason I might have reconsidered my purchase. Overall, I give it a 3 rating. I'm sure I'll be looking for a new vac pretty soon. I vacuum quite a bit and these cheaper models never last long. If your determined to purchase a bagless canister model, I would definately recommend reviewing all your options first. There are many others that actually have Power-Heads that are not just air driven.
Basic review
I just received my vacuum cleaner today - B&D CV1400, and I already vacuumed my 1,000 square apartment. I am very pleased with my purchase so far (bought it for $112 which included shipping). B&D did a great job designing this vacuum, as it is very functional - several sturdy attachments, and filter and canister which are very easy to clean, take off and put on. Btw the 2 additional filters are washable - that is what it says on the box, I have not tried it. Also, the vc comes with a 2-year warranty. After vacuuming the apartment the vc did get hot, which to me is perfectly normal, as I put it on the high setting (my apt. is carpeted). I totally love the attachments, the hose and the telescopic handle(which is metal!!!) and I assure you that they will not come off as there are metal balls that hold them in place. I have read so many reviews of other vcs, where people would complain that the hose would come off when pulling the vc around the house. That did not happen to me! The hose clicks into the vacuum and does not come off. The turbo beater spins like crazy and takes all hairs off the carpet (I have long hair). The smaller attachment, which is both for carpet and hard floor, also did a great job. The speed settings do make a difference and you can really see it on hard floors. All the attachments are very maneuverable, which makes it easy to pick little things around and under furniture (that is why I wanted a canister vacuum and the first place). The cord might be a little short for people with big houses, but they probably would not be looking for this vacuum anyway. I do not have a problem with that because my apartment is small. The vc is not noisy and it is easy to carry around when you have carpet like me, on which the wheels do not work as well.

>The negative thing that I noticed was that the vacuum cleaner is actually 1300W, not 1400W as it says on the pictures on the box and on amazon. The label on the vc itself does say that it is a model number CV1400, but it is 1300W. But again, I am happy as long as it keeps working as good as it does now and does not break.

>That is it from me. I just wanted to leave some information about this vacuum, since I could not find any when I was researching it.
