Designed to heat up quickly and stay hot, the 1350-watt Black & Decker First Impressions iron is an efficient model with handy everyday functions. Equipped with a nonstick soleplate for easy glide over fabrics, the iron is safe for everything from synthetics to linens. To set the temperature, you use a numbered dial with a pleasant clicking sound in combination with the printed guide on the iron’s heel rest. For challenging jobs, the iron has a spray function to gently dampen garments and a steam function for extra-stubborn wrinkles. The steam setting is variable to accommodate different fabrics and operates in the horizontal or vertical position. Filling the water reservoir is easy with the included measuring cup, though the plug should be handled with care--its attaching tube is rather fine. For safety and peace of mind, the iron includes power indicator lights and automatic shut-off after one hour.
