Film clips from some of Marlene's best-loved films are included: The Blue Angel (1930); Morocco (1930), for which she received an Oscar nomination; Destry Rides Again (1939); Witness for the Prosecution (1957); and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). Missing is her small but crucial appearance in Orson Welles's Touch of Evil (1958); he considered her one of his closest friends. Those interviewed include her daughter with Sieber, biographer Maria Riva, artist Al Hirschfeld, and actor Maximilian Schell, who directed the documentary, Marlene (1984), in which its subject--ever the enigma--speaks but does not actually appear. --Kathleen C.
