Customer Reviews of Bentley Bear Pk & Play
The best pack n play I've found... I was really tired of my old graco packnplay in the zoolou print. It was really simple with just a bassinet. I took it to once upon a child and got $25.00 for it. I went into toysrus with the intent of using that $25.00 (and my credit card for the rest) to buy myself a better pack n play. I recently purchased the bently bear stroller & infant seat so I decided to at least check out the matching pack n play. I didn't have to look any further...this one had it all. The mattress pad is pretty thick compared to others by graco and other brands. The bassinet has a bumper on it rather than the mesh like my old one. The changing table and mobile were great extras but what one me over is the music box/night light thing that it comes with. 5 songs, 5 nature sounds, volume control, 5,10,15& 20 minute timer, and two nightlights - its more than I could have every asked for in a pack n play. And for the review that says the mattress buckles, I found that if I don't fold the 1/4 under the mattress but rather have it up against the side of the bassient w/o the bumper, it lays perfectly flat.
Then it came time to put it together. I was really worried since I am only 5 feet tall and a lil over a hundred pounds, that I wouldn't be able to set it up myself. Well, after reading the instructions and a bit of trial and error, I was able to do it all on my own without my husband's help. After I finally got it together, I practiced taking it apart and putting it together again. After a few times, it got a lot easier. I find that a lot of parents are discouraged after the first attempt to do something with any type of baby gear but I think if you practice it, it will get easier to use...and it did. The changing table does not fold at all but I haven't really seen any pack n plays with sturdy changing tables that fold up. It doesn't seem like such a big deal to me to carry it separate from the packnplay for travel. And if you really can't figure out how to use your pack n play, www.gracobaby.com has demonstrations. You can also get replacement parts on the site if you lose parts (i always do.)
Great for home -- not for travel
We received this pack n'play before our daughter was born. It was simple to set up and take down, but I would recommend just leaving it set up. It is really heavy to carry and the bag that is used for storage does not have any handles or straps, making it very bulky to carry. We've travelled with this a couple times since I don't trust hotel cribs, but have decided just to let our daughter sleep with us in the future at the hotels.
Otherwise, we love the 3/4 bassinet. It gives the baby more room than a 1/2 size. We didn't really use the mobile. I kept taking it down since it always seemed to be in the way, and my daughter wasn't interested in it anyway. The changing table also came in handy for those middle-of-the-night changings. We used this in our room for a few months until we moved our daughter to her crib. All-in-all, I would recommend this pack n' play.
Go for the simple version
As first time parents, we were looking for all the best gear when we registered for this product. We pictured ourselves using all the gadgets that accompanied it all the time, however our daughter is 8 weeks old, and we haven't used any of it even once! By the time we use it, she will be too big for the basinette option. (We already had a separate basinette she slept in after she was born). We also don't need the changing table because we change her on her changing table in her room, or on the floor where she is playing. It is also VERY heavy and difficult to consolidate into the small case after it is all taken out of the box. The gadgets (the changing table, mobile, etc) don't fit into the carrying case, so you will not only have a heavy bulky playyard to carry, but also lots of extra stuff to tote along. However, it is easy to set up and take down, and is very sturdy. I'm sure we will use it more as our daughter becomes more active, but we certainly didn't need all the extra stuff. Save your money and go for a simpler version.
