Customer Reviews of Beautiful
Gorgeous... Regardless of what has ever been said about Christina, the girl can sing!!!!!!!! 'Beautiful' is a song that really describes itself. Christina has been dipping her toes into a lot of different genres lately, and this song is somewhat classical (as well as a bit jazzy). She pours so much heart and emotion into 'Beautiful' that even people who don't really care for Christina will love this tune. This single, however, might just be for big time Christina fans. The Spanish version of 'Get Mine, Get Yours' displays that Christina sounds brilliant regardless of the language she's singing in. The video is classic Christina (meaning different and controversial). Christina's message is simple: underneath it all, we are all equal and beautiful. I believe the UK edition of this single features 'Dirrty (the Mauve club mix),' as the b-side. Keep on goin' Christina!
The best ballad for years
After the cold reception of the first single "Dirrty" from her second album Stripped, Christina Aguilera released the song "Beautiful." The song opened 2003 in style, with a song that went straight to No.1 in the UK and became her biggest selling single to date. The song was a huge hit in Europe and in America too. The song is, simply put, just a very beautiful ballad. After the raw and explicit Dirrty, Christina did a total turnaround and came out with this absolute masterpiece. Beautiful is a firm fan-favourite from many Christina Aguilera fans, because they can relate to the song so much. Christina's vocals are absolutely stunning, the message is powerful and critics aren't joking when they call it one of the best songs ever.
Beautiful is just one example of the control and authority that Christina now has over her career. She was once a clean-cut pop singer who sang about boyfriends in a typical teenager way. She's now singing about universal topics of social acceptance and stereotypes that cause so much hatred and anger in the world. For someone like me, Beautiful is by FAR Christina's best ever composition to date. I'm one of those teenagers who doesn't listen to a song and think it's rubbish if I don't find it funky/catchy or whatever. I listen to the message, and the one that this song contains is so powerful. I can relate to it as well, which always makes me feel better about myself.
Beautiful begins with a classy piano intro and Christina whispering "Don't look at me." She wails a bit, before the first verse starts. She sings, "Everyday is so wonderful, and suddenly it's hard to breathe. Now and then I get insecure, from all the pain. I'm so ashamed." The chorus is then sung as Christina's vocals gradually rise, "I am beautiful, no matter what they say. Words can't bring me down. I am beautiful in every single way. Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no. So don't you bring me down today." The beat then kicks in and the song really gets underway. The second verse follows, "To all your friends you're delirious. So consumed in all your doom. Trying hard to fill the emptiness, the pieces gone, left the puzzle undone. Ain't that the way it is?"
Christina then sings the chorus once more, before the awesome and inspired bridge, "No matter what we do, no matter what we say. We're the song inside the tune, full of beautiful mistakes, and everywhere we go, the sun will always shine. And tomorrow we might awake on the other side." Christina then sings the chorus a few more times as her voice goes through the roof and sends shivers down your spine. The song then gradually dies down and she wails a bit more like she did at the start of the song and finally sings, with so much dedication and passion, "Don't you bring me down... Mmmm ...today." Then the song ends as the viola bows out gracefully, leaving the song fitting perfectly in that masterpiece 4-minute time bracket.
The video to Beautiful is just a powerful masterpiece. Many stations were nervous about broadcasting it, but with the right tone and message, the world just seemed to join together and appreciate what Christina had done. Here Christina doesn't strip off. She wears all black in a bare room, and the camera focuses on those who are different, but all the same inside. A homosexual couple kissing on a bench, a thin girl looking in a mirror, a cross-dresser dressing up, a punk on a bus, a girl with braces who is beaten up in a forest and a teenage boy wanting bigger muscles all capture the spirit of the song. It's an awesome video and this song is a masterpiece.
Without Question The Best Song She's Ever Had
"I am beautiful". It's a pretty simple statement when typed by me on my computer. But when this simple phrase comes out of the mouth of a Miss. Christina Aguilera, it is escalated to more than three words. It is a phrase, a message, a state of mind. Christina seems to be the pop star people love to hate. The conservatives complain she's sexual, profane, and vulgar (which she sometimes is). People dismiss her as an industry puppet, bubblegum pop trash, a poser. In a word- no. Aguilera is in my opinion not only the best teen pop singer out there, she is the most amazing person ever to grace the music industry, and one of the most amazing to grace the earth. And no, I'm not just saying this because of the kiss in the video :). When she sings, "I am beautiful" I swear it's like a message from the almighty Lord himself. Yes, I know I sound like I'm exagerrating. Too bad. I'm not. Yes, not everyone is going to love this song as much as I do, some people won't even like it that much. But for anyone to dismiss this song as garbage as one reviewer did here, they have obviously been deprived of a working heart. Here's to Christina Aguilera. May she continue to inspire us for many years to come.
