Customer Reviews of Batman - Mystery of the Batwoman
A Nice Batman Adventure It's really too bad that the new animated series "The Batman" didn't have enough foresight to see that the show never had a chance at being as good as Batman: TAS. Kevin Conroy really is the only Batman/Bruce Wayne for the cartoons... anyone else just sounds silly in the part. So, having said that, thank goodness the original production crew from Batman:TAS got together to make this film. A strong story line, great animation (not like the rediculous jagged edges of the new "The Batman" show), and the voice talent of kevin Conroy. Having said that, allow me to explain the lack of a fifth star in my rating. The fifth star is missing only because this movie was done in the style of the later created Batman/Superman Hour, in which the characters looks were completey changed, and not for the better. Bruce Wayne is drawn to look in my opinion, much younger, with striking pale blue eyes, which cause him to look quite a bit less sinister when he's brooding in the batcave. In the original Batman:TAS, Bruce was much darker and therefore true to the batman lore. When he needed to be the public Bruce, he was drawn with a slightly lazy smile, or something elise to make him look like the billionaire playboy that he was supposed to be, but when he was the real Bruce he was true to form, the new drawings take away from that. Likewise, the badguys have been changed around, Penguin has been changed from the scary version which replicated the Danny Devito version to the character from the 60s Batman, not a great move. The batmobile has been changed as well, and not for the better.but aside from the not so great design changes, the movie was very good, and certainly better that anything on these days.
Pretty good mystery
No, this DVD does not suck. It's not your average Batman, mainly because it's more about Bruce. The pace is a little slower but considering that this is Bruce's story and it involves love interests, then it works. I thought the actual mystery of Batwoman's identity was pretty cool. The women characters were strong and intelligent and all involved with Bruce in some manner. The city scenes were gorgeous, very good animation. Some of the action scenes were very right out of 007. I liked very much that we could see Bruce fall in love and even see his funny side. What a treat! It's definitely something different for Batman fans. Just relax and enjoy it for what it is - a well thought out Batman story that lets us in on the private life of our hero. Life isn't easy for Batman and neither is love. It's nice to have a movie depicting his gentle, but also vulnerable, side for once. I highly recommend it.
Entertainment
good entertainment for a family setting. keeps the intrest as to who bat-woman really is right down to the final end.
