Customer Reviews of Baby Einstein - Baby Newton - Discovering Shapes
This one is BAD Too much computer animation. Too much kiddie rock. I love most of the BE videos, but this one has a totally different format. It bores my 20-month old, and it bores me too.
This one's a WASTE- Is this even from Baby Einstein?
First let me say--my son LOVES the baby einstein videos--all of them--but this one. This doesn't come close--different format, weird animation and songs? it is totally random and doesn't have a good flow. It def. does not keep his attention (or mine). Save your money or buy Baby Neptune, MacDonald, Shakespear or any other one.
Baby Einstein: Baby Newton
I was very offended by the video, especially the way in which the crayons were represented. When the crayons were in the box, they looked paranoid. Once out of the box they behaved in stereotypical 'black' ways and even had black features "large lips". There is no doubt that the animators intended the crayons to represent black people. Once out of the box, at the beginning, the crayons danced in ways 'black' people dance on mainstream TV. Furthermore, the crayons throughout the video were running, jumping, basically excelling in sports, another stereotype of black people. Later on in the video, the crayons were tap dancing and were pulled off the stage by the neck - this was reminiscent of how blacks were treated during and shortly after slavery days. I found the video to be sending racist subliminal messages to our babies, which I believe to be very dangerous. Furthermore, this is an insult to Albert Einstein who was not even racist, and who in fact fought on behalf of black people against racism. They should not be using his name to send racist subliminal messages.
