Customer Reviews of Baby Bjorn - Standard Carrier - Tartan Navy
Great for active parents with younger babies I bought this carrier because I had heard so many great reviews and it proved to be as good as the reviews- until my son hit the eighth month mark. The first couple of months it was a godsend for my curiously happy little guy who loved to be involved in my everyday tasks. However, while it was very helpful when I was working around the house, I did start to have back pain once my son hit 3 1/2 months and started facing outward (and began to lean forward.) It was great for support when we were out on-the-go, but I never really felt comfortable breastfeeding in it because my son liked to be on his side while he nursed. He is 11 months now and I still use it from time to time, but he is 22 pounds and the carrier fits pretty snuggly. (I would say that 25 pounds is a stretch.) Since my son was a curious baby he loved being in the carrier, able to evaluate the world around him and he often fell asleep while he was being carried. Still, I think that next time around I will buy a sling just for the versatility. Don't get me wrong- the Bjorn is a quality product (especially great for active parents who want their baby close on hikes and other excursions) and I will use it again- just in addition to a sling. I think that a sling will be easier for breastfeeding. Plus I will be able to carry my little guy on my hip once he is older. If you can afford it- maybe buy both.
Love this carrier!
I can't say enough good things about this baby carrier. I received one as a shower gift for my second child (who's 2 1/2 now) and loved using it. It made shooping, especially the grocery store a breeze. My son loved being in it, too. I am using it for my now six week old daughter as well. It does take some practice getting used to putting baby in, but it became second nature to me.
As far as housework, I vacuum and load the washing machine while "wearing" my daughter, but not anything else...puts her too close to cleaning chemicals and/or dust. But it's great for walking the dog, getting the mail, taking a walk, etc. etc.
There was an earlier comment about having to bend at the knees all the time while using the Baby Bjorn. That's actually the proper form for your body to be in to pick something up so I don't see why there should be a problem with having to do that. Besides, you can turn all those knee bends into squats and help burn off that baby weight while you shop! Plus, I can't imagine keeping an infant in the car seat not only in the car, but in the store as well!
I didn't find it overly hot for baby, and I'm in South Florida! It's fairly lightweight, and what little extra warmth is great for the super strength air conditioning in the mall or grocery store.
If baby cannot see out while facing forward with the top folded down, than your carrier is adjusted incorrectly. This carrier is designed to last you a long, long time, from 8 lbs to 33 lbs! You just have to remember to let it "grow" with your baby.
Bottom line, the Baby Bjorn is worth the extra money - I always felt secure with my son in it and still do with my daughter. It is great for keeping baby super close to you and delivers on what it promises. Super product and a must have!
love it
This carrier is great, my son loves it. If he's fussy we just put him in it and he calms down immediatly. It's easy to clean and easy to get him in and out of it. I go for a mile walk every day with him in it and it doesn't strain my back.
