Customer Reviews of Baby's Story Record Book
Comprehensive and beautiful I looked through every baby book in the store and I picked this one. It had everything I was looking for without having a lot of unneccesary things I found in other books, and the illustrations are beautiful. It has plenty of room for family history which I am really big on and I liked that it had space to write birthday memories through age seven. I also liked the theme it has of emphasizing how loved and special the baby is. I would love it if my parents had had this baby book for me when I was a baby.
WOW!
Being my second child, I wasn't real sure how much time I would realistically have to write in a baby book. This one calmed my fear, it is very easy to keep up with and has space for lots of memories.
Love The Look, Don't Love Its Durability
Our daughter is 2.5 years old now and we've had this book since right before she was born. We love the look and layout of the book. Our daughter has done everything super early and in great detail from day one, like walking and talking at 6 months. I had a lot of the book like the family section, Mom/Dad section etc filled out before she was born-that's what bedrest does to you!
There are 2 points of contention however, when it comes to this book. I should tell you I am not a negative complainer-type who scrutinizes products to the nth degree-but when it comes to baby products, I'm a tad pickier than normal. When you're buying something like a baby book, something your child will probably love flipping through his/her entire life, you're going to want strength, right up there with appearance and layout.
We have never been hard on this book-it actually remains in it's outer box whenever it's not being written in. When our daughter wants to look at it, it's done with Mommy or Daddy holding and turning the pages. But to no avail-we went to glance at it one day when we were trying to remember what baby's 3rd word or something was, and like another poster said-about half the pages were suddenly unbound. I wanted to buy a new one right away but I spent hours on this beautiful cursive handwriting and also areas like the stamp-there aren't stamps in the value as there was when she was born so it's either try not to tear this one and transfef it or forget it-sounds trivial but you sort of get acustomed to these attributes in a baby book as they become your baby's history.
A milder complaint would be that there is often not enough space for detail. I'm not talking paragraphs here, simply that sometimes you'd like to write more than a 5 word sentence in a certain area. Not just when she fed herself with a spoon for the first time but how it went, was it hilarious, what was she eating etc..and little details that would be fun to read years from now.
Again, we love the book's appearance and have made good use of it. Though we were and always are gentle with it, it's lacking quality in the binding...maybe go for the same look but in the 3 ring binder version...or just buy it knowing it could fall apart in a few years. I just don't want to buy a new one-I like the idea of keeping the original...things were written as they happened, not in a mad dash to refill it.
