Customer Reviews of Azrael's Tear (PC CD Jewel Case)
An excellent and underrated classic... I could go on and on about why this game is my all time favorite. But then I'd probably come off as boring. Let me just say that no game I've played to date has really (...) in like Azrael's Tear. It has an excellent mood that is just haunting and sometimes beautiful. Yeah sure the graphics don't hold a candle to what's being released today. I still like them however because they give a dark and gritty mood to the game. The characters in Azrael's Tear are such a motely crue composed of ancient Templar knights, rival thieves, snarling slaves and tortured ghosts. Never have I had such an engaging time talking to and dealing with characters in a video game. These guys are so varied in personalities, from kind and helpful to downright psychotic...you will not forget these dudes. The game environment is dark, haunting yet convincingly medieval, telling a story of dark horrors that have gone on over near a millenium in the underground fortress of Aeternis. When I wasn't playing the game, I went over this story many times in my head it intrigued me so. And the music (although it is surprisingly MIDI) is goosebump giving and almost makes you wanna watch your back at times. Never have I been on edge as I was on Azrael's Tear. Couple it all with a slew of puzzles, traps, hazards, mutated prehistoric beasts and you have one engaging piece of work. Its really a shame people let the interface and the seeming uninteresting first puzzles prevent them from enjoying Azrael's Tear. Yes, it is outdated being a MS-DOS format game but there are Windows 95 versions floating around out there. It would seem this game was just another forgotten one in the land of no-one-cares-about-games and it frustrates me to no end. I would have loved a sequel, it would have been a perfect chance to introduce the knight Malik-the most intriguing character in the game but was only spoken of. My other gripe is that this game never made it to Playstation or some other platform (*sigh* obviously wasn't popular enough)...because with updated operating systems, I won't be able to play this unless I keep my comp back at Windows 2000. Pffft...I'd keep it at 2000 just to play this game because I enjoy it so much. Man, I did ramble too much...sorry. Here's to Azrael's Tear!
