Customer Reviews of Avent ISIS Breast Pump with Disposable Nurser
Better than hospital grade electric! I read up on every breast pump made and decided Avent was right for me. At first I was frustrated with all the parts but after talking with many other new moms I realized all breast pumps have lots of parts. This model is easy to clean, just set it in warm soapy water and rinse. As a large breasted woman I was concerned about how much damage and weight a manual breast pump could handle. I have not had any problems with the "neck" of the pump. This pumps can handle my DDD's with ease. I don't use the petal cushion because you can trap some milk under it and I hate to waste my "liquid gold." With the Avent, I can express more milk than the Medela Lactina electric pump I was loaned from the hospital. It's comfortable and I like being able to control the amount of pressure and duration with a simple handle. It's super protable. You can even pump using only one hand, where as many other pumps require both hands. Pumping directly into bottles, disposable bags or freezer bags is so convienient. This pump has helped me stock pile over 150 ounces in my freezer. No other pump, even medical grade, comes close.
The only pump I'll ever use
With my 1st baby, I rented a Medela hospital grade electric pump. I did the job pretty well, but the suction was weak and sluggish. With baby #2, I purchased the EvenFlo electric pump..I advise you to avoid that one like the plague (lacation consultants are unanimous that the EvenFlo pump pulls too hard on the breast tissue). Not to mention the fact that if you're a working/nursing Mom, you'd better have a private place to pump that doesn't require the use of an outlet!
I just purchased the Avent Isis pump on the advice of my hospital's lactation consultant. What a joy! No outlet required, silent, and easy to assemble and operate. Breast pump includes rubber insert that cups the breast to stimulate the let-down reflex quicker (literally within seconds- I was amazed how fast it happened); also includes travel cover, disposable nurser, 20 pre-sterilzed liners, 10 sealing clips, 40 date labels, 3 extra liner holders, sterile nipple travel pack (with Newborn nipple for disposable nurser)spare parts and instruction pamphlets. If you'd rather not spend money on the disposable liners, the Avent bottles can also be used with this pump in leiu of the disposable nurser, if need be. All in all, I am one satisfied customer. Avent makes great products and I've never been disappointed.
This pump bites
I bought this pump after reading positive reviews, consulting with a midwife and my son's pediatrician. Sadly, this pump never worked for me. It leaked, milk collected under the silicone petal insert, and I was never able to pump more than a half an ounce. I read the manual over and over to make sure i was using it correctly. It still leakedThis pump is a major dissapointment. I would not recomend purchasing this pump to any one. THIS PUMP DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED.
