Customer Reviews of Ascend Mt. Rainier
Ascend DVD is unlike anything I've seen I am so impressed with this DVD! Being from CO I needed to gather as much info as I could about Rainier before climbing. The whole "Know Before You Go" premise is so fitting for this DVD. Nothing else in my research for the climb proved as valuable as the Ascend Mount Rainier DVD. Guide books are helpful, but the DVD literally and virtually takes you to the mountain and veteran climber/guide Eric Simonson offers the necessary info to successfully plan for the climb. Even for those who never plan to climb Rainier but wonder what its like, this is the product for YOU! The other, much anticipated volumes in the ASCEND series, like Kilimanjaro, Denali and Mt. Baker should be even more phenomenal. Hopefully there will be others!
Non-climbers point of view
This has to be the best video and informational DVD on climbing MT. Rainier. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life, and have never had a desire to climb Mt. Rainier. After seeing the DVD,I KNOW I will never climb it. But I often wondered what it was like, and what was up there ,now I know. It is beautiful. I have watched it over and over and still find new things everytime I veiw it. Thank you Ascend team for putting out such a fine product. Now I can climb Mt.Rainier from my easy chair whenever I want.
Great Information, but....
The content of this DVD is VERY informative, but beware: the "DVD" I received does not play in a standard DVD player that connects to a TV. It only plays on a computer DVD drive. I called the producers and they said that because of something in the process of making DVDs, it might not play on all standard players. So ... buyer beware. Otherwise the information is comprehensive, and Eric Simonson is very engaging as he tells the viewer about just what it takes to climb Rainier.
