Customer Reviews of Around the Next Dream
Excellent, must have cd! If you Ever liked Cream, you got to have this cd. Fantastic quality and superb music. Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce (Cream) and Gary Moore. Gary Moore is a great guitarist in his own right. Combined with these two legendary talents, this band really cooks. Get it and you will not be disappointed.
So Much Potential...........
I had VERY high expectations of this CD to say the least. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed with this CD. While all three play quite well, I was surprised how many of the songs are merely variants of Cream songs... variants of Born Under A Bad Sign, We're Goin' Wrong, Pressed Rat and Warthog, and As You Said. These three musicians could have produced a top-notch, original, modern rock and roll record, but instead, they produced a Cream [knock-off]. I wouldn't have minded a couple of songs that sounded like Cream and I enjoyed hearing Gary Moore quote some Clapton solos, but this CD went too far in trying to relive the past.
If you want a better example of what Jack Bruce is capable of, get A Question of Time. That CD has some modern rockers, as well as songs that sound like Cream songs (in fact, Hey Now Princess was a Cream song that wasn't released until several years ago).
After hearing this CD, I think I know why Eric Clapton has decided not to record a new CD with Jack and Ginger.....Eric likes to look forward, not backward.......
A Good, Solid CD
This CD is a good, solid piece of work, well worth getting. Good melodies, great playing from Jack Bruce, Gary Moore and Ginger Baker, and typically strong vocals from Bruce.
The band didn't last long, I don't know why. Baker is back playing jazz, Bruce is now more into Latin music, so I guess this band was a one-CD outfit.
