Customer Reviews of Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Volume One
You must own these DVDs ATHF is the funniest show on TV now, w/ Arrested Development its only competition. If you loved the non sequitur, endlessly rewatchable humor of 91-95 era Simpsons, you'd love this show about animated fast food items and the strange characters they run into, like the Mooninites. "Do you have any eggs?" "Hold on let me check." "Yes, eggs or pot." Meatwad talking to his new, depressing Happy Time Harry doll: "You know, I notice you don't have a rocket launcher or a sniper rifle" "No, no, I don't have any firearms, here I have *action* bills" "Ugh, oh, those sound like fun"
Carl, the only "human", is one of the funniest things on TV because we have all seen or run into men just like him. "Yeah I got a deal down at the dumpster, I mean, warehouse."
This DVD set has some of the show's best, "MC Pee Pants, Revenge of the Mooninites, Dumber Dolls", but also some of the weaker ones, "Rabbot" and "Interfection". But they are all better than all the crappy sitcoms on TV, and the aforementioned classics are well worth the price.
"Commence to jigglin'!"
Sunday nights after 11 p.m., Cartoon Network has a series called "Adult Swim"- by it's name, they're obviously cartoons meant for adults. My favorite of the bunch is ATHF. These screwball characters (crime fighting trio Master Shake, Meatwad and Frylock and their hairy-backed neighbor Carl) were orignally based off an episode of "Space Ghost" and have bred a cult following. It's very diffcult to accurately describe this series, you simply must see it to believe it. It is, without a doubt, the most bizarre, hilarious guilty pleasure.
Episodes include:
DISC ONE:
"Rabbot"
"Escape from Leprechaupolis"
"Bus of the Undead"
"Mayhem of the Mooninites" (One of the funniest)
"Balloonenstein"
"Space Conflict from Beyond Pluto"
"Ol' Drippy
DISC TWO:
"Revenge of the Mooninites"
"MC Pee Pants"
"Circus"
"Dumber Days"
"Love Mummy"
"Dumber Dolls" (w/ guest appearance by "Mr. Show's David Cross)
"Interfection"
"Bad Replicant"
"PDA"
You can check out Adult Swim Sunday nights to see this show before you buy, but trust me- once you watch it, you'll be hooked. DVD extras include the original cut of the "Rabbot" episode, audio commentaries for 3 of the viewers favorite episodes and deleted scenes. Become a ATHF-Head today!
If you want a trip, I'll bring it to ya
"I want candy, bubble gum and taffy
Skip to the sweet shop with my sweetheart Sandy
Got my pennies saved cuz I'm a sugar daddy
I'm her Hugh Cronyn she's my Jessica Tandy, I want candy!
(...)
Do it to your daddy, embarass your own family
Just 'cause you came in front of a kid and his candy
I need candy, any kind'll do
I don't care if it's nutritious or "FDA approved"
It's gonna make me spaz like bobcats on booze
I'll make a hyperactive juice that only I can produce
To bore a giant drill straight into hell
Realeasin' ancient demons from a sleep forever spell
So they can walk upon the Earth, and get resituated
And hawk the diet pills that MC P Pants created
Mess up the mix, mix up the mess
Come on down yo here's the address
It's six, one-two, Wharf Avenue
Six, one-two, Wharf Avenue"
I highly reccomend ATHF... because where else can you watch a giant 8 foot spider wearing a disposable diaper pose as a cardboard 12 year old rapper who had a stroke and raps about an elaborate pyramid scheme to sell diet pills?
