Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the AD-2600 stands ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. In any case, standard composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
In the audio realm, a set of left/right analog-audio outputs channels audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

Troubleshooting AD-2500 and AD-2600 No Picture Scrolling B/W Repost from January 13, 2004 with a better fit title.
Does your Apex DVD player only play DVD audio without video? Or does it play audio and video but scrolling in black and white? Before you try to return the player or waste hours calling Apex tech support, or run the player over with your car, try these simple troubleshooting ideas first.
No picture: Hopefully you still have the remote control. If you tossed it out the window, you need to fetch it. Using the remote control, press the I/P button located on the bottom right corner of the remote. The I/P button switches the TV display between interlace and progressive. If this doesnt bring back the picture, try pressing this button without playing a DVD. If you dont get video back, now you can run the player over with your car!
Picture scrolling in B/W: You need the remote control for this so you better get it from your dog before he burries it in the backyard. Press the P/N button located on the bottom right corner of the remote. The P/N button switches your DVD players video output signal between PAL and NTSC. By pressing P/N, you should be able to get a good picture on the screen.

I hope I have helped you continue to enjoy the Apex DVD player with these troubleshooting tips. I have done some research and experimenting with the remote when my Apex AD-2500 seemed to have lost its video signal. Im a more happier person after discovering the I/P button! The button was probably accidentally pushed to cause the black screen in the first place. But, if you're looking for my opinion of the Apex DVD player, I love it! It practically plays almost everything you give it. I've had the player for about 2 years now and it still performs nicely with the exception of an occasional wwhhhrrr sound from the motor. For the price it is a well spent investment! I would recommend buying one.
Watch Out! This WILL QUIT WORKING after 3 months
I read a couple of reviews that warned that the APEX 2600 would break within a couple of months. I ignored them and now I have a DVD Player that plays sound but displays no picture. It worked fine up until now.
Also the unit is chintzy in design -- I think all the electronic engineer flunkies work for this company.
Blonde Ambition
I could sum this DVD "player" in one word, but I think it deserves three.....
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!
I would have gotten more and longer enjoyment out of setting my dollars on fire. The player was bought as a gift for my dad... first time DVD owner. He had problems with it the first month he had it, but was too embarassed to tell me. He used it about 8 times and the DVD player stopped working. It would spin any of the DVDs. He finally told me a little over 3 months after he had it. I then called APEX knowing it had a 1 year warranty. HA! I tried for 2 days to get through customer service. All I received was a busy signal. When I finally got through (on my dime), I was on hold for 2 hours!! No wonder they don't have an 800 number with all the complaints they must receive.
After finally getting through, I was told the year warranty was on PARTS only. The labor wouldn't be included. Neither would the shipping of the product. So when all was said and done, I would be paying just as much to repair their faulty DVD player as I did to buy it initially! Not to mention, customer service was very rude on the phone and offered no alternatives... just an "oh well, what do you want me to do about it?" Uh, maybe stop selling merchandise that is crap. Or at the least back up your equipment.
Shame on you APEX. I will never buy a product by this company again. If I could have given a negative score to this product, I would. If I ever hear of a friend wanting to buy something from APEX, I will do everything in my power to steer them away from it. Not only did you lose me as a current and future customer, you lost anyone I may talk to as well.
