Customer Reviews of Anime Insider
an average review for an average anime magazine Anime Insider isn't the best anime magazine in the world, but it isn't the worst either. It doesn't have nearly as much as content as NewType USA or some other anime magazines, but I do enjoy some of the major articles, like the recent Girls of Anime article, and the every-issue article where it chronicles the differences between the anime and manga versions of a different series each month. Other than that, get NewType USA; it may be a bit more expensive, but it's really worth it. And Anime Insider doesn't come with a DVD. But what do you expect for only $4.99 (newsstand price) per issue?
Yea - good mag, bad service
Well written with plenty of full color art, but too bad their subscription service can't be as good as the magazine itself. If they miss your issues its best to bend Amazon's ear, that will get results. I had to contact amazon twice in my first year. Maybe the $10 a year price hike will allow them to hire more staff.
Terrible subscription service
Out of 12 issues, I received 11 and only 3 without having to phone customer service (on my own dime, no toll-free number) to get them. Sending emails was useless. Many sent, none responded to. I never received my last issue, despite phoning several times (suddenly no one ever picked up) and leaving voice mail. After a couple of months of this nonsense, I've given up. So much for the last issue they owed me.

>All in all, a bad experience full of hassle and sans any apology to me when I WAS able to get through to customer service. In fact, it was bad enough an experience that I would lodge a formal complaint with amazon if that were possible.

>Now I won't buy this magazine over the counter either. I tried Newtype, which is more expensive but comes with good extras. I've found it provides much more solid information on anime, and my blood pressure doesn't go up when I see its logo. So long, Anime Insider.
