THE AMOS 'N' ANDY SHOW aired on the CBS television network in the early 1950s. Unexpected and persistent protests undoubtedly contributed to ending the series after only two seasons. Besides an ensemble of superb regulars A & A also featured a company of guest actors who all appeared in a multitude of roles. This pioneering TV show was based on the long-running radio sitcom and was the first to feature a primarily African American cast. <

>Copies of only 71 out of the original 78 episodes of Amos 'n' Andy exist. The other seven (including program #1) are apparently lost. Condition of these antique films varies from good to subpar. Considering the hue and cry raised against the show starting in 1951, it is fortunate there's any episodes available at all. <

Ready, set, laugh!
I grew up watching Amos 'n Andy with my dad - we'd watch 'em over and over. I've searched through tape after tape of poor quality videos only to find disappointment. Now at last! This DVD set is top notch and the most complete collection I've come across. There are episodes I never knew existed. The Amos 'n Andy show was clever and funny. The actors were brilliant. Grab this set and enjoy a well crafted TV show. Laugh 'til it hurts!

Surprized
I took a chance, despite the poor quality reviews, and bought the Amos and Andy boxed set DVDs. The picture and sound wasn't THAT bad. Agreed, It would be nice if someone could produce a first rate set but this one is well worth the 25 to 30 dollar price range. I watched the show when I was a kid. Fond memories. I am really happy I have these!
